Mercurio had been hiking in the mountains to help ease her mind and to adjust to her new life without Shiryu around. She was slowly scaling the mountain and even did some solo rock climbing. She finally made her way up to the springs and walked towards a secluded corner where she wouldn't easily be noticed.
I really miss him but I need to relax some. The words from Volk... shook me. Am I really that cold now? I hope not, maybe a soak will loosen me up.
She took off her backpack and then took off her shirt and shorts revealing an orange bikini with a purple marble effect. She slowly stepped down into one of the pools and stretched her legs out. She rested her head on a rock next to the pool and set her arms on the rim of the pool. Only the bottom of her shoulders and up could be seen above the warm waters.
This feels nice. I wonder how everybody else is doing down there in Nightshade. Lora, Sol, Kisara, Myrr and Xeno to name a few who are on my mind. Hopefully things are a bit better for them right now.
She sat there for a good thirty minutes before she finally reached behind her neck and untied her top removing it and setting next to her bag resting against the rock next to her head.
"Now to get some quality soaking in," she said with a relaxed sigh.

The slightest rustling of wings quietly echoed throughout the area before a black shape descended from the twilight sky and crashed into a nearby spring. The resulting splash sloshed water at least a couple dozen feet away from the spring's edge, and a 5-foot long shape slowly surfaced, issuing a content sigh.
"I'm glad I can still enjoy a friggin' soak... damned sun should've lowered sooner..." It muttered.
It paused, and raised its head in the shadows covering the spring. Most of its form was shrouded by darkness, but two pinpricks of yellow, glinting light shone through the darkness. They looked directly at Mercurio from several pools away, then it abruptly shrieked and was heard submerging. At the bottom of the spring, the scaled form had a foreclaw slapped to its forehead, thinking,
Wow... what is it with this place and being topless? ... Not that I'm complaining, but goddamn that was awkward... pretty though... wonder if she'd mind me taking a nip at her...

Mercurio only heard the splash but never saw anything. She retreated behind a rock so that whatever it was couldn't see her in her current state.
"What was that," she said to herself. "Show yourself whatever or whoever you are. I'm not here to be peeped at." Bloody perverts around the springs of course.
She waited behind the rock mostly submerged in the water waiting for the 'splash' to appear.

Mortis sighed, rolling his eyes as he heard Mercurio's muffled demand, then he closed his eyes and surfaced, snapping,
"Didn't even know you were here in the first place... so yeah, despite being male, I'm not here to peep at you."
He then proceeded to float on his back, ignorant of Mercurio's whereabouts or her current paranoia. He paused, then his eyes flitted open, their hauntingly yellow iris's peering straight into the night sky.
"Wait... you sound familiar. You wouldn't happen to live in the Abandoned district, would you?" He inquired, tail skimming across the spring's surface.

She slowly peeked out from behind to rock to look at Mortis. When she felt assured that there was nothing wrong here she slipped back out and relaxed a little bit though she was still a little tense from the surprise visitor.
"Well I thank you for your honesty... I didn't get your name yet, I'm Mercurio", she said to the wyrmling. "And yes I do live in the Abandoned District. Why do you ask?"
She finally found of comfortable spot in the rocks and sat down trying to soothe her mind and body.
I wish I could be sharing this with Shiryu right now. He would have loved this. If only there was a way to get him back...

Mortis glanced in the direction of her voice, musing,
I'm damned glad I can't blush anymore...
"My real name's Lowan, but you can call me Mortis. Everyone else does." He replied.
He sighed, yet no breath exited his lungs as he did so.
"I asked about the Abandoned District because I tend to go there from time to time, and one of the people I see there on occasion happens to be you... or, at least, I assume to be you." He added.
His pupils dialated slightly as he thought chillingly,
Crap... it's been almost a week since I fed, and I can smell her pretty well...

Mercurio's tension was more at ease since she perceived no immediate threat from Mortis. She felt at peace right now and opened up her senses to feel the biorhythms within the area. The feel of the warm waters and the balance of the rocks made her release a soothed sigh. She finally came across Mortis' and noticed something was different about it.
"Lowan, if you don't mind me calling you by that name, can I ask about what it is I feel that makes you different from most? You have a very unique biorhythm to you and I'm just a little curious", she inquired.
Little did Mortis know but right before she had fled behind the rock a matching piece was next to her bag of two certain colors. She was at total ease and was diverting attention from that spot by being on the opposite side of the rock she hid behind.

Mortis gave a slight choking noise, then issued a silent groan.
"Well... if you must know... I'm technically dead." He stated matter-of-factly.
His eyes took on that same glow once more as he explained,
"Yes, I'm a dragon, but because of difficult circumstances, I chose to become a hemata, or draconic vampire. Yes, I drink blood to keep myself 'living', it's a despicable thing, I know, but I'm 'picky' about my... victims... for lack of a better word. I restrain myself from going after people... I usually just feed off of local wildlife. Anything other than mammal or dragon's blood just makes me feel ill anyway..."
He sighed again, with still no air exiting his lungs.
"I haven't seen the sun in months, nor will I ever again. But I like to believe there was atleast one person who still wanted me around... so I went with undeath instead of moving on." He muttered.
He sniffed again, then replied,
"What about you? Your smell is mostly human, but... not quite."

"Well I'm from an alternate evolution of humans you could say. My race's spirit is more highly evolved and takes on a form at certain points in life and some even take the form of their spirit", she said.
"For one named after death and who is familiar with it from what I can tell, is there any viable way of returning from the other side even if the body may no longer exist", she asked.
I didn't think we smelled different from normal humans though...

"A different evolution, eh...? Interesting." The vampire pondered aloud.
He blinked at Mercurio's last question, then abruptly gave a barking laugh.
"Oh my, yes, there's many ways to bring back someone from the other side, even without a body... hell, one of my friends has done it at least five times! You just need the right kind of magic to do so..."
He paused, then frowned at the sky, a fang poking out between his lips.
"... why...? I assume you've lost someone lately...?" He inquired hesitantly.

She grew quiet at his question seemingly to not give an answer. Her face contorted as she debated with herself to say or not.
"Eh-yes... I did lose someone recently. He was annhilated right before my very eyes and his lifeless body was taken to lord knows where. I was just hoping there was some way he could possibly come back from such a terrible fate", she admitted.
She suddenly didn't feel as bad now that she'd told someone about this event. Perhaps she's not truly as cold as she was with Volk.
I just can't let you break your promise like this Shiryu. I know you can find a way back and I'll do anything necessary to help you.

Mortis fell silent as well, staring down at the water as he rolled onto his underside.
"I... see. I'm sorry to hear that, Mercurio... I know what it's like, believe it or not... I lost my entire family..." He muttered in response.
His eyes clenched slightly as he remembered the past 13 years of his now-immortal life. Cthulhu had been his antagonist the entire time... his father's insane rampage... his own death... then coming back, only to be killed a second time to be used as a portal... and finally... the horror that was the Elder form that the tentacled monstrosity had bestowed upon him... that had almost been the final straw of his sanity, were it not for another certain wyrmling. He gave another hollow sigh, lightly shaking his head.
"But... yes... there are several ways he could manage to return, even from that fate... again, it's just what manner of magic you use..." He breathed.

"I see... sounds like something beyond my caliber of skill. Guess I'll have to start searching around", she mused. "So tell me about what made you reamain with those of us in the plane of the living. Something or someone must have provided a good reason to do this.."
damn it looks like I have a lot to do if I ever want to have a whole heart once more. Curse you Vithzerai, I shall make you pay for this one day. Mark my words, you shall pay dearly.
She continued her soak no longer embarassed about being seen by Mortis in her current state of complete bare skin. She reached into her bag and pulled out a small snack bar and took a bite out of before replacing it on her bag. She really was enjoying herself now despite the quite serious conversation.

"Firstly, I can point you to a guy who could probably do it for you..." He offered.
Mortis sighed, rolling his eyes upward as he gave a half-grin.
"Secondly... well, the one who made me stay was... a wyrmling, like myself... her name's Cynder. She and I have a lot in common... we both had hard pasts... but our meeting just kinda, well... improved said lives rather quickly. You could call it love... I don't doubt that's what it is." He happily sighed.
He glanced back at Mercurio, and his eyes lingered on her neck for a bit longer than he would've liked them to...
Her being naked ISN'T helping this... He thought, shaking his head before glancing off to the side.

"Well I appreciate your offer but I need to find some way to do it myself. This is my burden to bare", she said in a firm tone. "Are you ok, you seem a little distracted."
She looked at Mortis with concern but didn't want to seem intruding. She pulled a towel out of her pack and stepped out of the pool and wrapped it around her body as she was beginning to get wrinkly from the length of her soak. She then sat down next to the pool and relaxed as she waited for Mortis to respond.
