As the hemata's claws began to dig deeper and deeper into the edge of the spring, he clenched his teeth, hauling himself out.
"Yeah, I'm.... I'm fine... j-just gimme a sec, I'll be right back..."
With that, he rapidly skittered off into the nearby woods, face contorting deeper and deeper into a feral snarl.
MUST... FIND... FOOD... Were the only words to echo through his head as he leapt from rocks to branches, yellow eyes flitting back and forth.
He gave a pleased hiss as he found a small cluster of deer, and immediately leapt down from a branch onto the closest, a rather large stag. It issued a shrill cry as it bucked about, yet the hemata wouldn't let go as he issued his own hissing cry, sinking his large fangs into the animal's thick neck. Though the other deer scattered, this one would be enough to fill his needs for now... after about a minute of struggling, the deer finally collapsed, moaning as it started to 'wither' slightly, eyes glazing over as Mortis drank deeply from its veins. Another minute or two passed, and Lowan gave a content sigh as he walked away from the dry corpse, stepping back into the springs area as he laid down next to one of the springs.
He rolled his eyes back up at Mercurio, unaware at least half of his entire head and most of his foreclaws were stained with blood, and his now-black veins were slightly visible against his dark-blue scales. He smirked, then replied in a relaxed tone,
"Sorry... had to take care of a problem. You were saying?"
