Shive wa sleaning against the rock wall on the northern side of the springs, of which seperated the two levels. He scowled into the trees, Ragnarok stabbed into the ground at his side. In the trees were dozens of yellow eyes staring back at him, but whatever they were attached to were... indiscernable. In fact, he doubted anyone else could even see them in the first place, save Shinigami. They bobbed up and down, watching his movements, as they well knew he could see theirs.
"C'mon, you little sh*ts... you know what'll happen if you do..." He grumbled.
His ears twitched, and his tail swayed as several of them took a step closer, but made no other movement.

"Shive, its good to see you again" Chiggar rumbled as she made herself known. She could not see the yellow-eyed creatures.
"I need to... what are you so tense about?"

Not taking his eyes off of the yellow-eyed creatures, he gave a smirk, replying,
"Ohh... no reason. Good to see you too, by the way."
He paused, recalling Chiggar had not seen the coloration given to him during his... 'training'. He shrugged it off mentally, asking,
"Anything I can help ya with?"
One of the creatures started forward again, and Shive's eyes snapped on it immedeately, halting it dead in its tracks.

"It's Mortis, yesterday I found him very sick. I managed to find some one who could cure him though, but afterwards, he seems to be rather unstable, I was hoping you could calm him down or something... he's pretty shaken up over something and I think, seeing as you two are close friends, you would be able to help him." Chiggar explained, tilting her head to reveal the blue wyrmling.

Shive's eyes turned back to Mortis, and instantly his expression changed.
"Holy crap... Mortis?"
He walked over to Chiggar, picking up the shaking wyrmling and stated,
"Mortis, say something! Please! I can't help if I don't know what's going on!"
His ears twitched as he picked up on a feverish, low muttering coming from Mortis. Noting several of the words, Shive sighed, pulling in the wyrmling.
"He fell asleep, didn't he?" Shive asked.
His eyes turned to the yellow-eyed creatures, of whom were looking at Mortis with dangerous intent. Shive scowled, then managed to lock eyes with several of them. Upon such a thing happening, they dissapated in clouds of black haze, dissapearing completely. The others stood their ground, however, slinking ever closer. Mortis curled into himself deeper, his mutterings having stopped. Shive shook his head, clutching at the wyrmling.
"As much as I'd like to help him, there's nothing I can do for him when he's like this. He'll eventually calm down... he always has..."

Chiggar slumped noticably, as she heard Shive's news.
"Crap... I was hoping you would be able to do something, it tears me up inside to see someone like this..."

Shive sighed, muttering,
"All in all, there's not much aynone can do for this kid anyway... He's a broken soul. Has been for a long time."
He paused, then looked up at Chiggar.
"You don't know why he's like this.... do you?" He asked, an eyebrow cocked.
He glanced down at Mortis, 'hmph'ing.
"I doubt he'd have told you anyway..."
He shrugged, then stated,
"Forgive me, Mortis."
He looked back at Chiggar, and began,
"Here's his life story in a nutshell: His father was corrupted by a powerful deity named Cthulhu, or Dogolas. Said father killed off his entire family, including Mortis here, and thousands upon thousands of people. A group of my old friends and I had the misfortune of killing him off. Later, when Mortis came back to Nightshade with me from Heaven (long story), he retained a piece of his father's dark energy, and was used as a portal to summon Cthulhu by a traitorous minion of his. Mortis almost died then, but was revived by Cthulhu, of whom pumped the little guy chock-full of his essence in the process. Mortis now suffers the same fate as his father did quite some time ago, but Cthulhu's apparently lost interest in him, and is leaving him alone. Sadly, the poor guy still has problems with this..."
He paused, sniffling as water gathered at the base of his eyes.
"Such as his cursed slumber, and the function to become a repulsive beast, albeit he's trying as hard as he can to control that."
Shive sat down, Mortis still in his arms.
"I almost never see him happy anymore... and it's as you said, Chiggar... it tears me up to see someone like that..."

"... Wow... I never... thought that it would be that bad for the poor guy..." Chiggar stated sadly.
"Now... I get why he was so traumatized... no kid should have to live through that... 'live' being used rather loosely here."
'I guess there are beings worse then the Krawl...'

He sighed, nodding.
"I agree..." He muttered.
He raised his head, staring off to the side.
"I think there's only one hope for him now, but he doesn't actively pursue her... he's lacking in confidence."
With that, he grunted as he rose to his feet, holding Mortis, who was now silent, eyes half-open. He used his other arm to grab Ragnarok, allowing the clamp on the leather strip across his back to catch it and hold it in place. He set Mortis down next to Chiggar, nodding as he stated,
"Seems he's recovered now. As for me, I've gotta go now... if he starts acting odd again, just take him home."
With that, Shive gave the receeding creatures in the trees one last glance, then rocketed off into the sky, leaving the Villakroma to the wyrmling.

Chiggar blinked, then looked down at Mortis.
"You got a potential love interest? Maybe I can't help directly, but I can try to build your confidence so you can pursue her." the beetle said to herself, laying down as she waited for the wyrmling to awaken.

The wyrmling finally came to, blinking as he yawned, then shook his head.
"Ugh, my head..." He groaned.
He sighed, then rose onto his haunches, glancing at Chiggar.
"You two were talking about me, weren't you?" He asked with a 'not in the mood for b-s' look.

Chiggar nodded, "Yeah, we were. And I hear you've got a bit of a confidence problem. I'd like to help you clear that problem up for a certain some one."
The Villakroma had decided, even without the look, she'd tell it too him straight.

Mortis 'hmphed', shaking his head, and was about to tell her off when he processed the last part of her statement.
"Eh? Whaddaya mean, 'for a certain someone'?! How the hell is my lack of confidence affecting someone else?!" He barked.

Chiggar smirked, "Does the name 'Cynder' ring a bell? It won't effect her, but it is effecting you because you won't go after her. I've seen a few glimpses at how you acted around her, and your friend, Shive, just confirmed it for me."
Chiggar stood up again, still looking down at him.
"You care for her, don't you?"

Mortis was so taken aback by Chiggar's statement, all he could do was stutter for five minutes straight.
"I'venoideawhatthehellyou'retalkingaboutdon'tinsinuatesuchthingsaboutpeopleIdon'tlikeanyonehere-"
He finally let out an aggrivated yell, then face-faulted into the ground.
"...yes..." He muttered out of the side of his mouth.
I'm so going to kill Shive when this is over...
