"Fallen... broken... simply, dissolved, into an incomplete thought. An empty shell cracked, and disfigured... with no remorse, I have been blinded by the darkness. With no disdain, I have recieved my punishment. And with no haste.. I await them..." -Unknown
Name: Garrett / Charon
Age: 19 (now ageless)
Alignment: Neutral
Species: Demon
Height: 7’2
Weight: 538 pounds
Length: N/A
Wingspan: 14 feet
Description: A well-muscled humanoid shape sets this demon’s natural form. His frame is covered in a perfect mixture of brick-red hide and dusky crimson scales, over this being sections of armor-like, dark-gray chitin; said chitin covers the forearms/elbows/backs of hands and claw segments, forelegs/shins/knees and tops of feet, most of upper torso/back (most of stomach is exposed, more chitin covers back), all of the shoulders, the entire pelvic region and a section of his thighs, his wing-bones (segmented for use of wings, obviously), and a single piece on his head covering the top of his forehead, running down either side to cover most of his cheeks, and a small bridge underneath, running along the chin. A smooth, chitinous faceplate can form from the pieces surrounding his face, covering everything below the eyes and further deepening his voice. Beneath said faceplate is still a rather human (though definitely demonic and harsher-looking) face, with a mouth full of slightly-sharper teeth and a slight scar across the bridge of the nose. His eyes are now a full-yellow with black pupils, somewhere between a normal human’s and a reptile’s. He bears a head of gray-black hair, slightly longer than it was before, though bordered by a pair of pointed ears and two gray horns stretching behind his head from directly behind the chitin on his temples. His wings, while draconic or bat-like in shape, bear no wing-leather, but are instead covered in black feathers with a constant red sheen, occasionally dripping blood (not an injury). Finally, there are five, glass-like green orbs slightly larger in size than golf balls wedged into sections of his body; one in each wrist, one in the upper-center of each shin, and one in the center of his chest-plate.
-
His (main/preferred) human form is that of a 6'0, athletically-muscled man with short, scruffy brown-black hair (bearing a slight silvery sheen), blue-gray eyes, and a slight layer of 'peach fuzz' on his jawline. Usually wearing a red t-shirt with blue jeans and, on some occasions, a long, black jacket.
Abilities:
Buster Orbs- The five orbs located on Garrett/Charon’s body are actually ‘focusing points’ for his spiritual energy, and can be used to unleash said energy into devastating attacks, depending on each orb’s position. The orbs and their effects are as follows-
Arms: Focusing energy into either of these orbs can charge the fist with crackling green, concussive force that explodes outward upon contact. The energy itself can usually break through a foot of solid rock without much trouble, and has slight deflective against other energy properties when still contained in the fist. Usable at will, full charge time is roughly 2 seconds (for maximum effect); consecutive use tires him out. Alternitively, charging these orbs can instead double Charon’s arm strength for a good 2 minutes at a time.
Legs: These bear a similar ability to the Arm Buster Orbs, but there is no discharge effect, simply energy-infused legs, making kicks act as if heated, and granting them an odd ‘cutting’ potential. Chargeable for up to 2 seconds, whereupon the effect will last up to 5 seconds. Alternitively, the legs can be charged to grant Charon twice the running speed/jumping height he had for up to 2 minutes at a time.
Chest: Utilizing this orb, Charon can fire off green, fireball-shaped blasts of energy from his maw. Their charge rate (up to 3 seconds) depends on their strength; 1 second can smash through the front end of a car, and the full 3 seconds will smash through several solid feet of reinforced steel with little trouble. Consecutive use is rather draining. Alternatively, the orb can be charged with defensive purpose in mind- three full seconds of charging will allow the next attack (depending on strength) to be deflected by a sudden aura of green energy. This function can only be used every so often.
Demonic Attributes- As a demon, Garrett/Charon has incredible natural abilities to go along with his other, less natural powers. For one, he is roughly 40 times stronger than an average human, roughly another 30 times more durable and faster, and his senses are 5 times greater. He can see in complete darkness, and notably resistant to acid, heat, telepathic intrusions, and poisons/diseases.
Hell Breaker- In what may be his most powerful attack, each of the five Buster Orbs will literally tear free from his body, then will form a circle around Charon before homing in and disappearing into Requiem‘s blade, of which will glow a brighter red-orange with each sphere. When all five have fused with the blade, the weapon’s next attack will literally tear a hole through dimensional boundaries, opening a rift to Hell, depending on the wound’s size. The rift will last up to 10 seconds, whereupon anything coming into contact with it will either be heavily damaged (very likely, considering it may be stuck to an opponent) or be pulled into the rift and onto a random layer of Hell. By doing this, Charon loses the ability to use any of his Buster Orbs for a good hour or so (until they reform), and the attack itself is heavily taxing to use.
Daemon Aura- Garrett/Charon bears an invisible aura that inflicts a clinging fear and paranoia into those of a mortal disposition, for no sane mortal can truly stay calm around one hailing from Hell. This ranges to about 30 feet maximum, and strengthens the closer one gets to him, the effects ranging from unnerved to mad, frightened screaming, depending on a target’s force of will. Can be suppressed at will.
Devil Forge- By temporarily sacrificing a Buster Orb, Garrett/Charon can automatically slay a dying/severely weakened demon and transform its spiritual energy into a Devil Arm (see below). This costs him quite a bit of energy to use, in addition to the price of a Buster Orb, but it can be used up to three times in a row… with debilitating effects to said user. The demon used for the process must be completely unique, being the only of its kind.
Alter Self- Being a demon, his old human form is not the only shape Garrett can assume (but he uses that the most). He can perfectly resemble any humanoid between 5-7 feet in height, down to the exact details (scent, fingerprints, voice, etc.), so long as he’s seen them. This does not affect mentality, however, so Garrett has to do some excellent acting to mimic an actual person. Of course, he can still make up his own forms with the ability. Usable at will, transformations take roughly 2 seconds to go through.
Personality: Garrett’s gotten back his will to live, and with it, his old happiness and outgoing ways. Sure, he still has his rather short fuse and vicious methods of fighting, but he speaks to people more often now and is nowhere near as angry and brooding as he once was. He’s still got his humor and willingness to help people, if it’s not even greater than before. He’s still prone to moments of silent melancholy and fear for his humanity, but they’re shorter and less frequent.
History: After his deadly plummet to Earth after the fight with Nexus, Garrett found himself in a dim, freezing castle, being hauled along by two monstrous creatures. It was there he was offered a deal by the arch-demon Arma, proprieter of the castle- He could return to the realm of the living… but not as a mortal. Arma would give him his life back, only if Garrett agreed to do Arma one small task… bring Arma the Demon Crests and hunt down a troublesome devil by the name of Phalanx. Garrett hesitantly agreed, and was reformatted as a demon, yet managed to return with his humanity, and even a new look on life. Now the upper-teen searches to accomplish his mission in return for his free passage, while struggling to keep his monstrous tendencies suppressed.
Equipment/Belongings:
Requiem- A large sword with a chrome guard resembling some form of monstrous, skullish reptilian’s head with its jaws clamped down on the blade and a blade ending in a slight diamond-shape, this weapon is the physical manifestation of Garrett’s new power, given to him by Arma. It has yet to be fully unlocked, but when it is, so shall Garrett’s full potential. On its own, the blade is sharp enough to cut through solid concrete with a strong swing, and durable enough to withstand up to four tons of force without breaking. If such an event occurs, the blade itself can regenerate completely over several hours, which also explains why it never needs sharpening.
Devil Arms- Garrett/Charon has several items known as Devil Arms, of which are demonic, living weapons that are the manifestation of a defeated devil's soul or power. These are stored in pocket dimensions within his Buster Orbs, and can be drawn/returned at will. If a Devil Arm is broken, it can be completely restored if all pieces are present and exposed to enough demonic energy. All Devil Arms in his possession are as listed:
-
Void- A piece of bulky, jet-black armor covering the entire right arm (hand included; claws large) that constantly issues some form of rapidly-dissipating haze. At will, the weapon can bend space around itself, creating a large, shadowy after-image of the armored limb. The ‘shadow-arm’ is capable of drastically increasing its size and shape in moments, allowing for heavier-hitting punches, grabbing things from afar, grappling someone at a range. Note- the effect can only retain its same general form (a forearm and hand) when its ability is used, and its can only reach up to a range of 50 feet. Extremely bright light can disrupt the spatial ability for several seconds.
-
Ogoun- What appears to be a large, 4-foot long mace constructed of a rough, dark-gray iron, the ball-end of the weapon appearing as a sphere of cooling magma clutched by four jagged ‘claws’ reaching up to about the sphere’s diameter. The clubbed-end itself is always heated to a scalding temp, and is much heavier than it looks, making each hit slow, but noteworthy. At will, the bulbous end will abruptly ignite and begin to drip magma, causing an explosive burst of flame and lava to strike an opponent with every hit. Ability can be active for up to 5 seconds at a time before sphere ‘re-cools’ and solidifies over a 10-second period.
-
Scylla- Four 15-foot, spiked chains are attached to a long, blue-gray handle made of polished bone, each chain ending in a large, serrated, triangular blade. Despite causing nasty damage as it was, any wound the blades cause will be incapable of coagulating, and the blood flow will be infinite until either the wound is closed/healed, or the victim dies. The weapon’s main ability, however, is the bladed chain’s ability to phase through solid objects at will, even being able to phase only certain parts at a time.
House of the Refugee- What was once a three-story warehouse in the Abandoned District is now Garrett’s surprisingly well-furnished home, featuring a multitude of couches, odd chairs, several televisions, fridges, and actual beds; thanks to residential and Tenkyanon-lent handiwork, it has running water/plumbing electricity, and the food supply is rarely short. Other Nightshade residents include: Thaea, Lowan, Asuka.
