Shiryu and Mercurio had been taking a break with each other at the hot springs the past few days, having some alone time since they had been on such a busy schedule. After a long soak they began to hike up to the crater to take in the sites from the summit. The day was sunny and warm, it seemed like nothing could ruin this day for them.
"Hey Shiryu?"
"Yeah, what is it Mercurio?"
"Can we do this more often? We've been so busy with all the crazy stuff happening lately that we haven't had much time to actually spend alone", Mercurio said.
"Of course we can. I can't imagine anything I'd want to use my time for over a day alone with you", Shiryu replied.
They had just summited the the Crater and looked out upon the landscape of Nightshade below.
"Shiryu, you remember that promise you made me right", she asked.
"Of course I do, and I intend to do everything I can to keep it", he assured her.
"Good, I can't imagine life without you", she sighed.
Mercurio kept looking at the landscape while Shiryu went down to the bottom of the crater to see what interesting things he might find.
It was then that a sharp sensation shot through his body. It was a dark and familiar presence. Mercurio still had her back turned unaware of what was nearby. Shiryu tried to get back to her before becoming trapped but he was too slow. Yomi No Kuni had him well within its grasp once more.
"Finally I have found you once more, and this time I shall put you in the grave", the familiar evil voice stated.

The whir of wings on air came to Mercurio's attention, along with a sudden chill feeling. A dragonkin, sheathed in skeletal-looking, cobalt-black armor had landed next to her, his scales a dusky red in color. He scowled, peering down into the crater, muttering,
"Thought so... he must'a went AWOL when I ditched him... hmm. I guess that's the 'Shiryu' guy he wanted to get to so badly..."
He sighed, rubbing the side of his head.
"Cripes... do I help...? I hardly know either..."
Without looking back at her, the anthropomorphic reptilian asked Mercurio,
"Hey... you're Mercurio, right...?"

Mercurio looked at the strange figure next to her. He seemed dark in nature but felt like a kind part had been released after a long imprisonment.
"Uh yeah... I'm Mercurio, but how do you know that", she asked.
As she looked at him she noticed Yomi No Kuni had arisen once more and Shiryu was inside it as well.
"Oh no not again...", she reached out a hand as she said this.

Shiryu was looking around for Darkray but could not see him. nor could he see outside the perimeter of YNK. Just as he looked back in the direction of where he thought Mercurio was Darkray stabbed his left arm.
"Did you miss me? I've been working on how to take you out once and for all. Then that little girl of yours will be easy fodder for Yomi No Kuni", Darkray hissed.
Darkray shot back and quickly began to collect energy around himself. Slowly the ground around him oozed up his body and blackened creating a pseudo armor of black bone.
"Dammit, we should have killed you last time. Rest assured that shall not be the case this time", Shiryu commanded.
He shot at Darkray shifting into his dragonic form and backhanded Darkray across the little bone island. He lunged onto Darkray and started pummeling him, all the while the Death Angel just laughed.
"Is that all you have right now or have you forgotten you're weaker here than outside this plane? No matter this shall be settled today", Darkray countered. He brought his knee up into Shiryu's gut and launched him about 15 feet into the air. He shot several spines up into the air and pierced Shiryu in a few places.
It was then Shiryu shot back down to Darkray and impaled him on his Heru-Faia Tansen. He quickly withdrew his blade and spin kicked Darkray following up with a shoulder block from behind.
"Just wait you bastard. I'm just getting warmed up", Shiryu shot back.

The dragonkin known as Daedalus glanced back at her, one eye closed against the light of the sun as he replied,
"Well... my former accomplice down there told me about your friend- who he obviously wants to kill- and I assumed you were his girlfriend. I guess that assumption was correct."
He sighed, shaking his head.
"I no longer want anything to do with him, not that I really liked him in the first place... but we can't do anything to get inside of that damned area-ability he put up."
He scowled, a tooth jutting out from his lower jaw and between his lips.
"All we can do is watch... and wait..." He muttered.
Several seconds of silence passed, and without looking at her, stated,
"Daedalus..."

Mercurio stood there in a nervous bind. She couldn't help him where she was and she couldn't get in to help him. This time she doubted that even shooting a bolt into the area would do anything.
"Excuse me but was there anything else you learned about Darkray that could help in getting Shiryu out? I want to help but I'm scared to the point I can't move", she said. "Something doesn't feel right this time... it's like some higher power is at play in this..."

Shiryu did not want his time meant for Mercurio to be interrupted by anyone, least of all Darkray. Yet, here he is fighting his age old foe.
"You have ruined my life once before Darkray, I'm not about to let you do it once more! I finally found peace and somebody I want to share the rest of my life with. You of all people will not be taking that away from me", he called.
Darkray got up with a smirk on his face, "So I see you improved considerably, but do you have the guts to kill me when she's watching you. Could you live with that knowing that she saw you kill a being? I don't think you have those guts so I shall take the soul from the BODY AND LIFE YOU DON'T DESERVE", Darkray roared back at the Reaper.
Darkray thrust his arm forward and a tendril like appendage shot forth and just before connecting with Shiryu it formed a 1ft diameter spike. It ran through his chest cavity completely penetrating the other side. However Shiryu's wound did not heal completely.
"That's right your regen won't work as well here. The reason why is that this very island slowly feeds off of life force and when you generate it it takes some away. This is why you will always be at a disadvantage when fighting me", he boasted pulling the changed arm back to a normal state.
Shiryu grabbed his chest as it still burned with a sensation of pain from being partially regenerated. He did, however, get up and move to make a strike back. He brought his sword upon Darkray in a downward arc only to be blocked by a black armored arm. A bone spire shot through Shiryu's arm and quickly retracted as Darkray uppercut him into the air.

Daedalus shook his head, replying,
"Sadly, no. That's a trans-dimensional area, and unless you have the ability to tear through dimensions, you can't get in or out until the field itself drops. Your boyfriend's on his own."
He scowled as Shiryu's arm was impaled by a bone-spire, muttering,
"And he's at a disadvantage already..."
He grumbled, closing his eyes. To most, Daedalus would appear to be talking to himself. However, to the likes of Mercurio, a myriad of ghostly white figures started to circle Daedalus, echoing in a chorus of chilling voices. He then smirked, stating,
"I want you to take care of any 'assistance' Darkray might enlist. If he creates any skeletons, feel free to use them. See if you can't interfere with the Bone Collecter himself a bit..."
A few dozen of the malevolent-looking spirits wailed in response, and shot through the barrier unaffected by it as they were incorporeal. They all sank into the bone-strewn ground before either Shiryu or Darkray could notice, and there they lay waiting for their chances to strike. Daedalus 'hmph'ed, then glanced back at Mercurio and muttered,
"Lost souls all beg for a purpose... I can give that to them."
My own army of sorts, just like old times... heh...

Darkray shot into the air and brought down his fists clenched together upon Shiryu's back sending him crashing to the ground. He landed shortly thereafter and began to taunt Shiryu.
"You think your so powerful now and yet you still can't even beat me. I'm seriously beginning to wonder about your commitments and priorities. If you can't even take me out to save the life of that little girl there then how do you expect to save the wretched lives of the people in this city", he barked.
Shiryu got up as the wounds caused by the spires closed slightly. It became apparent that he could not outlast Darkray in this fight and he needed to end it now. This time, however, he would end it for good.
"You're right I have been missing some priorities in what I do here. I do know one thing though. Your time ends here", he retorted.
Shiryu shot back at Darkray cracking Darkray over the skull with his fist forcing him to face the ground. As Darkray leaned over, Shiryu brought up his knee whipping Darkray's head back with a sickening crack. A quick spin brought one of Shiryu's legs above Darkray which pounded him onto the ground and bounced him back up with the force. Shiryu uppercut him in the spine forcing him high into the air. As Darkray reached the peak of the ascent Shiryu charged up an Abyssal Stream.
Darkray turned around to look at his foe once the apex of his flight was reached. The one thing he did see was an Abyssal Stream baring down upon him at an incredible rate. The blast connected rocketing him even higher into the air and causing heavy damage to his black armor. He finally crashed down at the edge of Yomi No Kuni and staggered upright.
"You think that just because you got a powerup you can eliminate me with a single ability. Well give it another go because I'm not going anywhere. Though I do want to bring back an old friend you should be familiar with", Darkray hissed.
Once he finished his words a mass from the island started to move. It was a small ripple at first but it turned into large disruptions near the center as a large skeletal dragon arose from the island's bones. It stood fully erect in the center of "arena" looking right at Shiryu before it began to move towards him.

Mercurio gasped when she saw the horrid abomination arise. Despite what Daedalus had said she still couldn't help her reaction because of what it did the last time it appeared. Not to mention the one this time was considerably larger than the last.
"Please don't let that thing be as strong as I fear it to be. He wouldn't have any chance should its powers have multiplied", she cried.
This was the second major confrontation Shiryu has had in this environment. Yet, it felt different this time. She couldn't shake the feeling from her mind and was dwelling on it now.

Daedalus, however, bore an entirely different reaction to the skeletal dragon's appearance. A grin split across his face, and he muttered,
"Boys, there's your cue..."
Several white streaks shot at Darkray's dragon, dissapearing the moment they came into contact with it. The dragon shuddered to a halt, then a pair of red pin-pricks suddenly appeared in its empty eye sockets, and it issued a low, raspy roar. It then lashed its tail out, smashing it into Darkray and sending the dark one skimming across the ground. It leapt through the air, crashing down on Darkray as it pinned him with both foreclaws, snapping at his head with its jaws.
"I do believe I've improved on his methods." Daedalus mused, scratching his chin.

Darkray reached up his left arm and grabbed the bone dragon's arm. Slowly dark tendrils reached up about half the length of the appendage. It then oozed back ont Darkray morphing his arm into a new shape. He now had a slightly elongated arm with the extremities being long blade like fingers.
Darkray thrust his new arm into the dragon's chest and forced it back. It was now missing one limb and wasn't being allowed to regenerate as it usually would. Darkray quickly turned his attention to Shiryu who was already in an advancing state. Darkray was met with front flip kick grinding his skull into the ground.
Darkray slowly uprighted himself and brought his new arm upwards in an uppercut like motion racking Shiryu and sending him into the air. As Shiryu came back down Darkray formed a bed of spires that pierced Shiryu's back and wings to a large degree. Once the spikes retracted Shiryu's wounds slightly closed ending the blood flow at least.
Shiryu approached Darkray in a speedy manner zig-zagging just like he had in their first fight avoiding spires as they shot out of the ground. Once he closed the distance he used a pair of Night Slashes to send Darkray into the air and right back to the ground. While Shiryu was still in the air he released his Nine Fragments Completed upon him. Shiryu came crashing down with authority rending most of Darkray's body beyond recognition. Darkray lay there nigh unmoving with a sadistic grin across his face.
"You think this is the end of me...*cough* I think not! I shall return some day and you will die by my hand, that I can assure you of", Darkray said weezing.
"No Darkray, you will not. This is the end of the line for you. Your time of causing people pain that haunts them beyond the grave is up. You have said your last words and thus I relieve you of your duties in this life", Shiryu calmly stated.
Shiryu ignited his blade and thrust it into the skull of Darkray. The flames engulfed his head and slowly ate it away. Once his head was gone what remained of his body decayed as well disappearing from existence. Once his body vanished a dark light dissipated in a wave upon Yomi No Kuni disspelling everything conjured in it including the dragon to a slight degree, it had been largely weakened due to the spirits within it.
Shiryu dropped to his knees obviously tired from the battle and in pain from his open wounds.
"Finally we're rid of him. Not how I wanted my day to go, but a good day nonetheless", he sighed cathcing his breath waiting for Yomi No Kuni to close for the final time.

Mercurio relaxed once the veil around Yomi No Kuni lifted allowinf a view within. She saw Shiryu within and no sight of Darkray to be found. She let out a satisfied sigh. Finally she could spend her days with Shiryu in peace not having to fear when Darkray would return.
She turned to Daedalus once her fears had settled.
"Thank you for your help Daedalus. I really appreciate it, and even though he doesn't know you did it I'm sure Shiryu would be too", she sincerely told him.

Daedalus simply gave a blank nod in reply as several spirits floated back to him, swirling about before dissapearing again.
"Eh, no problem... just trying to make up for some mistakes, y'know." He muttered.
He watched Shiryu approach, then scowled, focusing on the center of where Yomi no Kuni was, thinking,
That aura's not dissipating... something's wrong. He -is- destroyed, isn't he?
He expanded his Detect Magic ability, eyes widening as he did so.
"I wouldn't celebrate just yet, you two... that barrier is still technically there, or so it looks..." He gasped.

As Shiryu knelt on the ground trying to rest, the area around him began to pulsate even more with dark energy. Yomi No Kuni expanded slowly reaching closer to Daedalus and Mercurio.
Once it stopped growing, Yomi No Kuni began to discharge a huge amount of energy from its center in a large vortex. The vortex opened slightly wider revealing a hole in its core.
Shiryu watched the vortex in awe not knowing what to expect from this event. He rose to his feet clutching a wound that had torn open again due to the incomplete regeneration. He moved forward with desparation, not wanting this to be a rebirth of Darkray. It was in fact something much worse.
[glow=gray,2,300]FINALLY THE TIME HAS COME! I have been released to collect on the debt of souls this world and society has made. You all may have battled for a 'good' cause but it has caused more pain and suffering than you could ever know. It is now the time of judgement and you all have been deemed unworthy of the lives you have. If you cannot appreciate life and go day to day taking it for granted I shall remove that life for you so it may be better spent by those who truly acknowledge the gift of life. AND YOU SHALL BE THE FIRST REPARATION TO THIS FILTHY WORLD!!![/glow]
A large figure rose from the vortex completely engulfed in darkness. Wings slowly unfolded from the figure into their full expanse. The being threw its arms to the side causing the darkness to disperse as if it were water being shaken off. The being levitated in the air as the vortex faded back into Yomi No Kuni.
[glow=gray,2,300]I am Vithzerai, the one who has passed judgement down upon this realm and those who dwell within. You all shall rue the day you lost sight of Life's meaning.[/glow]
He turned towards Shiryu who was right next to him and belted him in the face sending the reaper flying to the very edge of Yomi No Kuni Manten.

Mercurio turned and watched as this new figure took the place of Shiryu's long time foe. His mere presence exuded a justified evil that could make one sick. She stared in horror as Shiryu was bout to be mauled by this new being. Speechless was the only thing that could be said of her, she had physical means to express what was wrong though the atmosphere could tell any who came near what was going through her head.

Daedalus growled, getting a headache from the sudden rush of power while his Detect Magic was still active. He clutched at his head, balancing himself on his macabre-looking sword.
"shit...! He's stronger than Darkray, I've no doubt..." He muttered.
He scowled, then slowly glanced at his blade, hand tightening on the handle. He held his other hand out, and lightly pushed Mercurio away from the field, barking,
"Stand back!"
He then raised the blade known as Eclipse before himself, holding it with both hands as the spirits filtered back into view. He bared his teeth as they began to circle around him, wailing and screaming before a good dozen of them lashed out and dissapeared into the blade, of which started to glow a heavy black.
"As a servant of the Deathly Gale, I call uponit in this hour... [glow=purple,2,400]REND MY ENEMIES ASUNDER!![/glow]"
What appeared to be a black 'wind' abruptly appeared around Eclipse's edge, whirling and howling angrily as he raised the weapon above his head, then lashed downward with it, a sudden wave of the 'wind' streaking out and slamming into the edge of Yomi no Kuni, ghastly faces visible with its confines. However, despite the attack's force, the 'wind' merely surged across the barrier, barely managing to reach within several inches of the barrier's thickness before dispersing. Daedalus gasped weakly as he fell to a knee, glaring at the barrier past his sweat-beaded muzzle.
"damn... not even... a scratch...!" He wheezed.

Vithzerai momentarily turned his attention towards Daedalus. He raised a hand pointing at the Dark Dragonkin.
[glow=Gray,4,300]Be swallowed by the void...[/glow]
Just then a dark sphere began to form in front of Daedalus pulling in all forms of matter into its core. Nothing came out once it was absorbed and the sphere slowly expanded.
[glow=gray,4,300]Now that I can ignore them for a moment or two let's get this underway shall we?[/glow]
Vitzerai charged at Shiryu and threw him into the air. He reeled a fist back and thrust it into Shiryu's stomach cause him to exhale violently. He pulled back again and charged up Death's Hand before ramming it into Shiryu's chest cracking a couple ribs. He then hurled Shiryu to the ground with one hand. As Shiryu connected with the ground Vithzerai landed on his damaged ribs causing another one to crack in the process.
[glow=gray,4,300]You creatures are all the same. Delusions of Grandeur thinking that you're protecting something precious. That's where you fool yourselves. These humans go on, day by day, ignoring the lives gifted to them. Once I begin removing that gift from the planet, then maybe people will realise how important it is to appreciate life.[/glow]

Mercurio stood up quickly and grabbed Daed's wrist and started pulling him away from the matter absorbing sphere.
"Daedalus, I don't think that messing with him is a good idea. Considering he can do that from within, it's best we not find out what he can do outside. We just have to hope that Shiryu can pull this off", Mercurio stated.
She watched with hopeful eyes as Shiryu remained trapped within Yomi No Kuni Manten.

Daedalus snarled, backing away from the Void Bomb as he re-attached Eclipse to his back's armor.
"He's just lucky his f*cking barrier's in the way... may have to tell Bro about this one. But something tells me he'll know for himself soon enough..."
He glared at Vithzerai as he pummeled Shiryu, and replied flatly,
"Well, at this rate, I'm not sure if your boyfriend will make it out of there alive... if at all."
He furrowed his brows at Vithzerai's speech, thinking,
I used to believe the same thing... not anymore.

Vithzerai just stared at the grounded Shiryu since his presence had been made known to the world. Shiryu wheezed as he grabbed Vithzerai's leg and tossed him off. Shiryu slowly stood as his ribs half knit back together from the blows he had been dealt.
"True it may be that many humans go by each day not recognizing the gift they have, but causing death indiscriminately is not the way to bring the matter to attention. That is why we fight, so that humanity may continue to discover that which is hidden from their view. So long as beings like yourself exist we will not back down or leave humanity to a fate it could possibly deserve", he stated. "This race evolves and as they do so their mentality evolves into something much more grand. For all we know this race could eventually surpass even us. My race is a dying breed as are so many others here in this realm but we fight on. Til the day we die we fight for survival and heritage."
He then shot at Vithzerai with full intent on killing him in one blow. He rammed a Night Slash into his gut and forced him away as Vithzerai was forced back he charged and loosed an Abyssal Stream. Vithzerai watched the beam race towards him without even a flinch.
Vithzerai merely stood his ground and bore the entire beam's force upon his body. His body come out nearly unscathed and hardly smoking. He just slowly moved back to Shiryu and grabbed him. He picked Shiryu up in one hand and forced him onto the ground. He reeled back his other fist and sent another Death's Hand into Shiryu's gut.
[glow=gray,4,300]FOOL!!! The human race is a degenerative species. They will be dead in a few millenia and I intend to keep them from even making it to that point in time and space. They had their chance to be a higher race in terms of existance but the past few centuries have opened my eyes to the degrading race they are now. 8 generations ago life was looked upon as a blessing, but now it's just a thing that can be given or taken at a whim. Therefore this race must be eliminated so that a new and more deserving race can take its place.[/glow]
