Volk slowly ascended the edge of the volcanic crater in his Dalu form. He made it up to a ledge and took a moment to looks at the amount of time remaining.
Bloody hell I'm tired. Running low on time now. I maybe have three and a half hours to go until dawn, four if I'm lucky.
He rested a moment allowing himself to catch a bit of breath. He was sitting there when he noticed a small figure flying towards him.
"Master I've finally found you."
"I was wondering what happened to you Grosspoliner. 'Bout time you caught up with me. Haven't seen you since the waterfall", he replied.
"Yes I got stuck under a rock in the bottom of the river."
"Well nice to have you back and try not to get left behind this time", he retorted.
"Yes sir, I will try."
With that Volk continued his climb having his faithful companion with him once again.

It was then a horrid scream came to Volk's ears before being abruptly cut short. Several dozen more feet would reveal that Volk was not alone in the area... a behemoth of a creature stood on the edge of the volcao's crater, staring into its molten abyss as what looked like entrails slowly spiraled into his form before dissapearing without a trace. It clacked three tooth-lined jas together as the process ended, and its flexed two massive bat-like wings, swaying a bladed tail. A large horn came off of its cranial horn, and a multitude of prismatic, glowing hemispheres covered its pitch-black form, the largest of which being on its oddly-shaped, oversized shoulders. It issued a small rumble, then muttered aloud,
"Another one...? Hmph. Seems they're everywhere around here. Meh, I'm already full."
It cracked its armored neck before slowly glancing at Volk, a pair of featureless, blood-red eyes staring straight into his mind.

Volk felt the stare of the stranger before him. He knew this was a being not to be trifled with and approched with such in mind.
"Excuse me but have you seen a humanoid around here that seems to have been wating for someone", he asked politely not wanting to provoke whoever it might be.
He held left Grosspoliner behind him in case he would come off as a perceived threat. He did however maintain a stance in case the need to flee arose.

A sudden throbbing pain shot through Volk's mind as the black entity before him gave him a seemingly blank stare, then just as the pain stopped, he rumbled,
"The lycan you're looking for just got assimilated by yours truely. Looks like you're shit outta luck in completing your trial..."
He looked back across the crater, issung a small puff of purplish mist from his mandibles as he wrang his claws. He slowly flicked a hand upwards, and a massive arc of lava shot up above the magma's surface, sloshing against the opposite side of the volcano. Khimera 'smirked', then glanced back at Volk and muttered,
"But, luckily for you, I'm bored..."
With that, Khimera slowly tilted his head back, and, parting his mandibles, issued a howl exactly like a wolf's, but with a slight pitch of a werewolf. He looked back at Volk, and hissed,
"That was the howl of the lycan I devoured not long ago. Now... get out of my sight before I decide to eat you too."

"Fair enough. You get your peace and I get to pass", he said turning to leave.
He hoped down the maountain's face heading for the cliffs and his last location in the trial of Navigation.
Wonder if I should let Ashen know about this Lycan getting assassinated after the trials are over with. Guess I'll think about it on the way to the cliffs.
He scaled down the mountain and took off at a quick pace to the cliffs. Time was running shorter and shorter.
