To Save a Race (pt. 1)

Nexus clutched at his chest, a wince apparent in his eyes as the top-heavy Cromian panted. He abruptly paused, then let out a deep growl, slowly looking up towards Mazinkaiser and Galeon, malice abundant in his glare.

[glow=purple,2,300]"You dare to call yourself... 'heroes'... yet you've done more damage to the city itself a thousand times over without care of the population... you call yourself 'heroes' in the process of attempting to incurr genocide in an already-dying race... and... you DARE to call yourselves... 'heroes' when you don't even know WHICH SIDE IS THE RIGHT ONE...!!"[/glow]

Nexus's Cross-Smasher abruptly tore forth from his shoulder pylons and slammed into Galeon, drilling into the Genesic Machine's torso and slamming him into the ground before pushing him through the street below, craving a shallow ditch as he wa spushed along. A large hole was now in the quadrepedal bot's chest region, smoke billowing freely from the area around him as Nexus turned to Mazinkaiser, then in a flash, was atop the Super Robot, gripping both of the bot's arms as he forced the Kanjite Knight to stare him straight in the eyes.

[glow=purple,2,300]"You think the 'humans' are the innocents here?! HA-HA-HA!! LIES!! These disgusting apes are nothing but wasteful, self-destructive, greedy, arrogant, war-mongering BEASTS!! They're not 'the good guys' as they've forced you to believe! They'll only destroy this planet and countless others! You'd dare trade the lives of thousands of worlds for those of the ones who'll destroy them?! YOU'RE NO HEROES!! YOU'RE SIMPLY AIDING THE PROCESS OF DESTRUCTION THAT THESE WORMS CREATE!!"[/glow]

Nexus then caused multiple waves of dark matter to surge into the captive Super Robot's frame, ravaging him further as Nexus continued,

[glow=purple,2,300]"We Cromians only do what is neccesary when we assimilate our hosts! We never had a choice when those damned Thaleans created us! WE NEVER WANTED TO BE MONSTERS, damn YOU!! WE NEVER WANTED ANY OF THIS!! BUT OUR CREATORS FORCED OUR HAND!! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN REPRODUCE!!! YOU THINK WE ENJOY TAKING THE LIVES OF OTHER RACES?! NO!!"[/glow]

A final, explosive surge of dark matter finally sent Mazinkaiser flying- a smoldering, metal husk hurtling through the air and into a building. Nexus finally teleported before Shiryu and promptly wrapped his oversized claw around the anthropomorphic Reaper's neck and head, hefting him into the air, Nexus's eyes narrowing.

[glow=purple,2,300]"But, sadly, this is what we're forced to do... and given the current situation at hand... our race deserves to live much more than the humans..."[/glow]

His grip abruptly tightened, the strain of bones beginning to pop and snap issuing from his closed fist as the rest of Shiryu's body hung limply from his grasp. Nexus's eyes went wide, and what might have counted as bloodshot, as he finished,

[glow=purple,2,300]"The longer we live, the faster we can figure out a way to reproduce without having to take the lives of others... but you don't seem to understand us at all... and as long as you stand in my way, it seems I'll have to rid you from existance..."[/glow]

He then reeled his fist back and repeatedly smashed Shiryu into the ground, putting all his strength behind each hit. After about a dozen times of this action being repeated, Nexus finally released Shiryu, watching him fall to the ground below... then get blasted into the same building as Mazinkaiser by a powerful wave of dark matter. Meanwhile, Varion was too staggered by Mercurio's attack to see the incoming Big Volfogg slam into him and through a building, sending the teenage Harbinger flying through the air and smashing through a fire hydrant, forcing a geyser of water to fly into the air next to the Harbinger.

Strangely enough, the water... boiled and steamed when it came into contact with the armored entity's still frame. Several seconds passed before Varion staggered to his feet, then rocketed back at Big Volfogg, foot extended as he smashed it into Volfogg's face, causing the large purple-and-white mecha to sail backwards and backflip onto his back with a crash. Varion then turned to Mercurio, drawing forth an Orion Blade as he picked up his speed before eventually dashing forward and slamming his knee into her gut, sending her upwards a dozen feet or so before she slammed back into the ground, and Varion's blade was suddenly centimeters from her neck, the heat from the blade burning the female Reaper's neck a bit as it hovered ominously. What was strange about the situation, though, was the fact that the blade had been swung... yet there it was, not moving an inch. In fact, nor was the Harbinger himself...

Mercurio hacked and wheezed as she raised her armored hand to Varion's face. She recoiled slightly from the heat as she searched his gaze for what the problem was. She rested her hand lightly on his cheek and tapped into his biorhythm to search for what was abnormal. As she searched she felt an strange pattern pulsating in his body from the base of the neck, when she probed closer overwhelming mental power shot at her and she pulled out just before it consumed her.

"Shiryu there's something attached to Varion that's making him behave oddly. He needs your strength", she pleaded across a biorhythm stream to him.

The stream swept to Shiryu's body as he felt her call and shot at Varion. As he neared he felt Mercurio's experience and knew where the weak point was. He spun his body bringing his shin across the base of Varion's neck causing the ground to crater slightly from the blow. He backflipped kicking Varion up into the air and called out to Volfogg.

"The base of the neck! That is where the key point of attack is, precision is a must here but make it quick and sharp", Shiryu bellowed towards the warrior bot who had recently joined the fight.

Volfogg quickly tackles Varion away from Mercurio. Slamming the corona warrior into a wall of a building, Big Volfogg struggles to get to the device holding the warrior in the grip of Nexus. "Varion...brave warriror..." Big Volfogg mutters, "You must...WAKE UP!!"

The Super Robot then unleashes a wave of pure sound in the area. The robot's Melting Siren slowly began to crack the device on Varion's neck, but the warrior cried out in pain. Big Volfogg decreased the volume of the attack, hoping to not kill him. "If..I"m not careful...I'll...kill him..." Big Volfogg says to himself as he holds down Varion.

Varion struggled from the the grip Volfogg had on him, the siren sound piercing his ear drums. "If only...Mic was..."

"VOLFOGG KUN!!" a voice shouts from the atmosphere.

Big Volfogg looks up quickly, recognizing the voice. "Mic Sounders!!" he says back to the robot descending from the sky, "We need to destroy this device on him without killing him!! I know you can do this!"

"YOSHAA!! You can count on me!!" the robot says, coming into full view. It had a light blue body, with red and black legs. On his hips, he had yellow rounded spikes, and on his back were red handed arms that were tucked away. A yellow guitar was strapped to his back and he was riding on a platform that was expelling green energy.

"Disk P...Set on!!" the robot named Mic Sounders yells, a CD popping out of the base he stood on. He opens his chest to put the CD in, his visor starting to glow green.

"THUNDERING...V!!" Two, golden microphones pop out of the robot's knees and the arms on his back grab them on both sides.

"Waaave...RISER!!" The golden guitar then flies up and Mic Sounders grabs it. "COME ON ROCK AND ROLL!!"

The thundering roar of drums fills the air and, as Mic Sounders strummed on his guitar, the wale of an electric guitar accompanies it. The robot actually began to sing as well.

Ima, atsuku naru toki same ta kokoro kogase
Ima, arashi yobu toki saa yami kirihirake

Fight it out taikutsu na mainichi ni keri tsukete

The sounds echoed throughout the battlefield, making the device on the back of Varion's neck to snap appart as the drum beats hammered it and the guitar howls ringing in Varion's ears.

Desire!! Azayaka ni...Desire!! Maiagare ima
Desire!! Jikuu wo koe...Desire!! Mabushiku odore~!!

The controller then burst into pieces, no longer holding Varion's will. But the song continued to play. The song suddenly gave the heroes in the area to ignite with more strength than ever. Their powers were increasing in strength and all their energy seemed be replenished.

From the debris, Kaiser Galeon and Mazinkaiser smash through, their G-Stone shining intensely. "This...this power!" Kaiser Galeon roars as his body feels stronger, "It feels like....like"

"Galeon!" Mazinkaiser shouts, "Lets combine our powers!!"

"I was thinking the same thing!!" Galeon howls to the super robot. The two robots spin in the air, their G-Stones growing stronger and stronger. "FUUUSION!!!" the two shout as they begin to combine.

Mazinkaiser becomes a ball of light that enters the maw of Kaiser Galeon. The front legs of Kaiser Galeon fold out to create arms, but they are much more bulkier than the original Galeon's, representing part of Mazinkaiser's big forearms. The lion's legs snap and form legs, but the clawed feet fuse on top of the feet that are like Mazinkaiser's. The legs burst out with more bulk, the knee guard becoming larger. The chest spins around, the lion head folding down onto the chest. Mazinkaiser's chest fins appear in a flare of red fire and attach to the side of the lion's head. The head of the fused machine shoots up from the chest, resembling Mazinkaiser's head to a point. The mouth guard bursts of, revealing a human mouth and the sides of Mazinkaiser's head rotate and fold to the back. The horns on the side of the head disappear and the G-Stone breaks through the forehead and glares green. With the Fusion complete, the new robot shouts its name to the heavens,

Kaiser GaiGar, the fusion of Genesic and the one above a God and Demon, floats in the air, his G-Stone blinding Nexus. The green hued eyes then glare at Nexus and the robot charges at Nexus with blinding speed. The Super Robot punches at Nexus, who quickly put up a shield to defend himself. Giant pulses of green energy expand from the fist and force Nexus backwards. With his free hand, the clawed gantlet snaps forwards and covers the other fist. "GENESIC KNUCKLE!!", The robot shouts, stabbing the clawed fist into the shield, breaking through it and creating a deep gash in the chest of Nexus. Kaiser GaiGar then follows up with a spinning roundhouse kick and hits Nexus in his side. Nexus flies though a building, landing against the last wall of the complex.

Kaiser GaiGar stands defiant against his opponent, the song of Mic Sounders still playing.

[Talon]

Varion had crumpled to the ground as the device, revealed to be some sort of metallic, slug-like Cromian, screeched and crumbled away at Mic Sounder's sonic onslaught. A small, bloody hole in the back of Varion's neck slowly cauterized over, and the astral warrior suddenly stirred, staggering to his feet, clutching his helmeted head.

"Ow... what the hell happened for like... the past... day...?" Garrett groaned.

There was a sharp, crackling 'pop', and Varion suddenly roared,

"FINALLY! ARGH! I'M GONNA TEAR THAT bastard APART IF I GET THE CHANCE!"

Garrett winced, touching the wound on his neck as the blood boiled and clotted, thanks to the abnromal heat he produced. He scowled, then looked up to see Nexus stagger out of the complex he'd been knocked into. The two suddenly exchanged stares for a moment, and Nexus rumbled,

[glow=purple,2,300]"damn you... damn YOU ALL... YOU WILL NOT STAND IN MY WAY!! MY RACE SHALL BE SAVED, AND YOU FILTHY, LOW-LEVEL LIFEFORMS SHALL DO NOTHING OF IT!! RAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!"[/glow]

With that, he leapt through the air and crashed into the street below, crackling with blue-white energy. The air began to get heavy as Nexus took the glow on himself, pulsating with sheer power, the gorund beneath him crackling.

"IT'S A GRAVITY ATTACK!!!" Varion roared.

No one had time to react, however, as a massive nova of energy suddenly exploded forth, enveloping everything within 500 feet into its terrible glow. Several seconds passed, and the explosion of energy dissipated, revealing a massive crater in the ground, all building that were once in said crater now gone from sight. Varion lay in the rubble, smoking visibly and heavily dented, multiple patches of armor busted open, revealing the biomechanical flesh beneath. Ryouki attempted to raise his head from the rubble as well, but failed, appearing in a condition as bad as Varion's. Nexus still stood in the middle of the crater, eyes slowly flickering back into life as he issued a quiet hiss.

Even the Cromian Patriarch himself had been damaged by the attack, of which was currently regenerating, and his barrier flickered weakly. He panted, then staggered out of the blast radius, rumbling to all those within the crater,

[glow=purple,2,300]"The tripled gravity should keep you down... long enough for me to rid myself... of you..."[/glow]

He floated out of the radius, unhindered by said gravitational pull before landing several feet away from the edge. He slowly turned back to the others, and quickly peppered the crater with a needle-like spray of dark matter, causing a multitude of explosions. He gasped, staggering back again as his energy reserves attempted to refill themselves.

Mercurio was out cold from the recent attack Nexus made and Shiryu was straining to keep moving. He slowly moved to a kneeling position as he built up his energy for a final assault on Nexus. His regeneration had kept him from major damage so far but it stopped midway this time leaving minor wounds open.

"Crap we need to finish this soon. This will probably be my last chance to bring him down", he panted. "Gotta leave everything I have left in him."

He rose to his feet standing fully erect in the crater and stared down Nexus.

"You talk about the survival of a race as if you are the only one in the universe. Filthy parasites like you have no business here and endangering our world. Your race may be in jeopardy but by coming here you endangered those here on this world, when you do that a race will always rise to fight for its survival as you well know. This day we shall find out which race is stronger, HUMANS OR CROMIANS, AND I"LL BE damnED IF I LET YOUR RACE COME OUT ON TOP."

Shiryu roared as he charged at Nexus spinning himself through the air. He rammed both of his arm blades into Nexus and initiated a Night Slash attack. At the end of his slash he repelled Nexus back about 20 feet from his position and charged up an Abyssal Stream.

"Let it be known the Cromian race fought with determination but the tenacity of the human race and its guardians won out in the end. GOOD BYE CROMIAN SCUM!"

And with those words he blasted Nexus in what could be called point blank range for such a massive attack. Once the stream faded Shiryu sank to the ground and shifted back to his human form and rested on one knee as he left the rest of the fighting to MazinKaiser and the others.

"You... shall... not succeed... this day... Nexus...", he wheezed.

[Azure_Ghidorah]

"HERE COMES THE CAVALRY!!!" Xeno suddenly screamed, firing several bursts from her Phaze Cannon at Nexus' back, knocking the Cromian patriarch forward slightly. Kisara Flash Stepped in front of Nexus as he was stumbling forward, having already activated her Shikai. The substitute Shinigami stabbed and slashed at several places on Nexus' bulk, including a knee, a shoulder, and the neck, before she Flash Stepped away again as Onyste charged in at full speed, jamming Nexus after jumping at him, then thrusting off again with her back legs, sending the Cromian patriarch to the ground from the impact.

At least, had Myrr not slid under him as he fell and kicked him back to his feet, before pulling herdelf up with her hands and flipping to her feet a short distance away from Nexus, unloading everything she had on him, most prominent the sonic disruptor, which shattered the frozen parts of his body the Kisara had slashed, dropping the Cromian lord to one knee. Xeno appeared again, this time in front of him, with her cannon aimed at his neck.

"Eat this you sunnavabitch!" Xeno roared, blasting Nexus' wounded neck several times with her cannon, before pulling out her scythe blade and carving a deep gash into the Cromian master's torso, and kicking Nexus up and unloading four missiles from each pack that her armor had, blasting Nexus up further.

Kisara and Myrr took place under him again, the latter drawing her blade, as mother and daughter slashed, kicked, and punched up at Nexus, juggling the Cromian lord despite his mass as Xeno flew high up, her form eclisped by the sun above. Kisara and Myrr split when they saw Xeno flying down at Nexus, roaring with the power that flowed through her freely.

The hybrid's out stretched foot smashed into Nexus' face, smashing the patriarch into the ground below and causing them both to skid from the impact. Xeno quickly jumped away, leaving a few final shots of her Phaze Cannon to his face as a sort of 'goodbye' as she did so, before the group came together again, expressions hardened for the battle that was surely still on, despite the barrage they dealt to him.

From behind Nexus, GekiRyuJin smashes into the backside of the Cromian lord. As Nexus flew, he blasted him with a torrent of tornado forced winds, making him sail far into the front side of another building. "Take that you sonnova bitch!!" the green, yellow and gold robot yells.

The fused robot looks to see Kaiser GaiGar, recognizing his shape and structure. "Caption Gai!?" the robot shouts to the Mazinkaiser and Kaiser Galeon fused robot.

"No, that's not him." Big Volfogg says, jumping down onto a ledge with his arms crossed, "He's a different Galeon or GaiGar to be specific. We'll get to details later. Right now...we need to finish this!!"

The robot jumps into the air spinning like a top and shouts, "DaiKaiten MADAN!!". His entire body becomes incased in the Mirror Coating and he flies at Nexus and smashes into him. The sound of blades slashing armor rings through the air as Nexus is tossed up into the air. GekiRyuJin follows up with his Xian Tou Long and releases twin energy dragons at Nexus. The energy hits Nexus in the back and forces him higher into the air.

Above Nexus, waits Kaiser GaiGar, his fists pumping with Genesic Aura. "GENESIC....SMAAASHAAAA!!" he shouts as he punches Nexus in the chest and blasts the Cromian lord with pure Genesic energy. Nexus flies back down to earth, creating a giant crator. Kaiser GaiGar lands next to Big Volfogg and GekiRyuJin and prepares for another attack by Nexus.

[Talon]

Nexus lay still in the middle of the crater, trying to get a grip on his senses after the massive counter-attack that'd been launched on him. His regeneration had trouble keeping up at first, as did his barrier's reconstruction, but eventually the two kicked back up to speed, Nexus staggering to his feet. He paused for a moment, then all four of his eyes shot wide open as he reached out to his Ether Lords... only to find nothing.

[glow=purple,2,300]Pyraxus...?! Crysalia...?! .... TERAGUS?! NO! IT CAN'T BE!! ALL OF THEM HAVE BEEN DEFEATED!! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!![/glow] He thought, at a loss for spoken words.

He slowly bowed his head, eyes closing as his clawed fists clenched, beginning to shake with rage. The sky above abruptly became full of large, swirling black blotches as the Cromian Overlord rumbled,

[glow=purple,2,300]"You damned... Earthlings... you're... ruining... EVERYTHING... AND FOR WHAT...?! THESE damnED, UNGRATEFUL CREATURES YOU CALL... HUMANS...?!?! I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS ATROCITY TO OCCUR... WE DESERVE TO LIVE... AND SO I SHALL ENSURE THAT WE DO!!"[/glow]

He threw his head back as an earth-splitting roar filled the area, and the black blotches in the air abruptly came crashing to earth as 20-foot spheres of seething, volatile dark matter, all of which exploded viciously into rolling waves of black devastation. All present were stuck down by this massive attack as Nexus continued the onslaught with a sweeping Cross Smasher, taking out those closest to him in the process. The attacks died down, and Nexus pulsed his barrier's range for a moment, sending the resulting smoke scattering away from the many craters peppering the area, and his eyes narrowed as a single entity rose from the ashes.
"Nexus... that was always... one of your worst mistakes..." Varion muttered.

Nexus's Divine Arm appeared in his hand, pulsating with a slight red sheen as he slowly stomped towards the smaller Astral Harbinger, of whom was joined shortly by the battered Ryouki. Both were badly beaten and broken, but found the strength to stand in their sheer determination as the biomechanical dragon growled,

"You assume the Thaleans were wrong in sentancing you to death... but it is in fact, -you-, the Cromian species, who are wrong. They knew the value of life, and they knew you would disrespect it in your damnedable epidemic of voracious fury. One who does not value the lives he takes does not in-turn deserve life himself."

[glow=purple,2,300]"SHUT YOUR FILTHY MAW, MOUNT!! These lives do not deserve to be valued! They destroy everything around them as they work themselves toward their own selfish damned goals! Why should we respect such creatures?! They have not struggled to survive like WE have!!"[/glow] Nexus howled, bringing the Divine Arm up to strike.

It was, then, that the next lines... came from the one who was least expected to say them, the one who had lost all feeling and respect for life, even his own.

"Because... though you say such things, I will admit that most of mankind has lost its way... I can speak from experience. But I believe the few out there who still feel, those who still act -human-, in the metaphysical sense of the word... I believe they can lead the rest of mankind to the right path..." Garrett mumbled, fists clenching and crackling with energy.

The Divine Arm was the deflected off to the side as it came crashing down into contact with a Nova Burst, whirling through the air before it crashed into the ground, blade-first. Garrett slowly raised his armored head in defiance at the surprised Cromian Patriarch, and continued,

"And as for your claims to the right to live... you are STILL WRONG... mankind has struggled to survive for HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS... we've gotten our rightful place at the top of the foodchain... we are nowhere near as powerful, or fast, or resilient as most species on this planet... but it is our intellect, our ability to adapt... our power of WILL... that has gotten us this far...!"

The heat in the area slowly began to skyrocket, the air around Varion starting to catch aflame as the Harbinger's armor segmented in various places, revealing bright, neon-white lines, eyes burning with something hotter... spirit... something the bearer of Varion hadn't shown in ages...

"You Cromians... you've earned NOTHING! You simply destroy all in your path and blindly take lives without care! You claim to be a peaceful race, but the Thaleans knew differently! Your hunger would spread across GALAXIES!! You destroy and consume because you FEAR DEATH! WE HUMANS DO NOT!! WE PRESS ONWARD EVERY DAY WITHOUT LOOKING TO THE PAST, OR WHAT MAY HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE!! WE DESERVE TO LIVE..."

[glow=gray,2,300]"ALL LIMITERS REMOVED!! CORONA DRIVE, INITIATED!!"[/glow] Varion and Ryouki both bellowed at the same time, the latter's armor segmenting as well to reveal neon-orange lines.

Ryouki rocketed into the air, becoming a blur of black and glowing neon-blue as the lines shifted in color, eventually backflipping and screaming back down through the air in a fiery divebomb at the Thalean Knight below.

"...SIMPLY BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO LIVE!!" Garrett finished, throwing his arms to the side.

Moments before Ryouki's glow joined the blue-and-silver warrior's aura, Varion simply muttered to his host,

"Truer words have never been spoken, boy... it's good to see you're back."

A massive nova of powerful concussive force and white-hot energy surged forth from Ryouki's point of impact, literally burning through the air and hurling a scorched Nexus several dozen feet away from where he stood. The biomechanical mastermind could only look up in hatred and fear at the one who had nearly taken his life once before...

[glow=white,2,300]"Now... SHOW ME, NEXUS!! SHOW ME THE CROMIAN'S DETERMINATION!! SHOW ME YOUR WILL TO LIVE!!"[/glow] Corona Varion roared, shimmering with sheer power and heat.

Nexus issued his own scream of defiance, crackling with dark matter as he rose to his feet.

[glow=purple,2,300]"SO BE IT!! THE CROMIAN RACE WILL RISE AGAIN, AND THE ACCURSED THALEAN LEGACY ENDS TODAY, HARBINGER!!"[/glow]

As the two streaked towards eachother, Thaea had finally managed to reach the area of combat, panting as she doubled over.

"Please... don't be too-"

She paused, looking up as Corona Varion slammed a Meteor Blitz into Nexus's barrier, quickly tearing through it and into the Cromian himself, making the Patriarch issue a scream of pain as his race's bane coursed into his form. Thaea slowly rose, mouth slightly agape as she meekly finished,

"...late? Oh, wow... so that's what Krieger looked like before..."

She paused, then smiled slowly as she muttered,

"This must be it... when he took his life back..."

Nexus flew across the area, the smoking hole in his chest feebly trying to regenerate the damage he'd been dealt. Corona Varion clenched his clawed hands as he issued a challenging rumble, layers of biomechanical muscles tensing under the thick armor. It seemed the fight had truely begun...

Kaiser GaiGar stares in awe at the fighting Nexus and Varion were engaged in. "A...Amazing..." was all the robot could say. Volfogg appeared beside the Genesic machine, arms crossed and looking at the battle. "Yes, this fight is indeed incredible." Big Volfogg mutters, "Reminds me of the many battles we have had."

GekiRyuJin goes to run in and join the fight, yelling "Lets not stand around here! We gotta help them!"

"Wait!!" Big Volfogg shouts, "Do not interfere with them. This is their fight, not ours. Varion shall finish this, for it is his rival in battle." Big Volfogg turns silent and continues to watch the battle. GekiRyuJin then crosses his arms and grunts in displeasure.

[Azure_Ghidorah]

Kisara, Myrr, and Xeno all just watched as Corona Varion clashed with Nexus.

"damn... looks like he's finally over his slump..." Kisara muttered, with the two Myrrs muttering agreements.

Xeno then shook her head, muttering, "That speech got me fired up, I wanna get in on the action even more now!"

Myrr sighed, turning to her dark half, "No, the purple robot's right, its not our fight..."

"I get it, I know." Xeno replied, shoulders sagging as she continued to watch.

'Don't die, Garrett... we don't want you being turned into a monster...' Kisara thought to herself, continuing to watch.

As the resounding echoes of Nexus and Corona Varion trading blows echoed across the wasteland, Thaea hauled Mercurio and Shiryu out of the rubble and back over to the group of fighters watching the intensifying battle go on. She nodded in response to everyone's words, then bit her lip as she recalled -how- Garrett died. She shot the sky, then the burning Thalean warrior a worried look as Corona Varion got blasted across the area with a point-blank dark matter blast. An angry bellow and a counter-shot involving Corona Varion's Nebula Wave sent Nexus hurtling through the air, hissing in pain.

I... I can't stop it, then... oh god... I came here for nothing... and I'll be forced to watch it happen... She thought, clenching her fists.

Both the Astral Harbinger and the Cromian Patriarch smashed into one another, exchanging blow for blow with equal force. High kicks, right-and-left hooks, Meteor Blitzes and dark-matter charged slashes all flashed out in brief instances before both smashed their swords into one another's with as much force as they had, causing small bursts of crackling energy to run across each's edge from the point of impact. Shards of both the Cosmic Ravager and the Divine Arm started to fly as the weapons pressed deeper into eachother, before both fighters issued a charge of power into their blades, causing both weapons to erupt into light and smoke, sending both back as pieces of the ruined weapons fell to the ground. They stared eachother down, glaring with every inch of will they had, then killed the silence when both fired- CV with the Shining Star Buster, and Nexus with a crackling bolt of dark matter. Both attacks exploded violently on impact before the two rushed eachother again... but this time ended differently. Nexus brought an energy-infused claw down at CV's head, but the Star Knight lashed out of the way, twirled to the side, then uppercutted Nexus square in the jaw with a well-placed Meteor Blitz, of which spattered the Ether Lord of Shadow's noggin over a good 30-foot streak.

The taller fighter gugrgled as his head attempted to regenerate, blindly kicking Varion several dozen feet. The moment Nexus's eyes reformed, he narrowed them, thinking,

[glow=purple,2,300]shit... even with the others not fighting... even with my damned upgrade... he's still winning.... WHY?! This isn't the same host! Why is he just as strong?! ... ... could that bastard have been right... about the human evolution...? NO! PREPOSTEROUS! SUCH FRAIL BEINGS CANNOT STOP A CROMIAN, EVEN WITH THE AID OF OUR OPPRESSORS! Still, at this rate, I'm in bad shape... all this radiation has already killed off the Cerinian, and my grip on the hosts is lost... my generals, hell, most of my race... is dead... I -must- turn the tide... but HOW?![/glow]

He paused, the tip of his head reforming just in time for a dark chuckle to escape his faceplate.

[glow=purple,2,300]"Yes... THAT WILL DO... that vessel that destroyed Teragus... I'm sure it's got MORE than enough parts and firepower...!"[/glow]

Nexus weaved to the side, just in time to avoid a blow from CV, whom he promptly batted away with a sweep of his large claw. Nexus screamed at CV before blasting the fighter with a non-stop spray of needle-like dark matter, then slowly spread his wings as energy filtered into his boosters.

[glow=purple,2,300]"I'll finish this fight, Thalean tool... MARK MY WORDS!!"[/glow] He hissed.

With that, the Cromian Patriarch suddenly arced into the sky at astounding speeds, leaving his combatants in his dust. Corona Varion groaned, slowly hauling himself out of the crater his impact had formed, shaking his head. He glared up at the retreating light in the sky that was Nexus, then spread his wings, growling,

[glow=white,2,300]"Oh no you don't... COWARD!! I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN TO THE EDGE OF HELL AND BACK!!"[/glow]

His multitude of boosters suddenly ignited as he went into a slight crouch, ready to blast off at any moment...

"WAIT!!"

He paused, issuing a confused grunt as Thaea skidded out before him, looking up at the metal titan with worry.

[glow=white,2,300]"Who're you...?"[/glow]

She bit her lip, then replied,

"Someone who doesn't want you to die. It sounds ridiculous, but I'm from the future, a future in which you're indirectly responsible for the planet's poor condition. If you follow Nexus up there, you'll -die-, and hostile aliens will rebuild you into their tool... I came back here to stop that from happening. It was a request directly from Einst Kriger himself... your future self. So, please... heed my warning. Tenkyanon and its denizens can handle him themselves... you don't need to end your life to end his."

Corona Varion blinked, all three minds confused at this notion, Garrett escpecially. However, they'd all heard of a smiliar scenario, what with Myrr being here. He sighed, unsure of what to do at the moment. His fists clenched, bringing to mind all the memories he had of Nightshade... the bad- his loss of the Guyver, discovering he only had a few years left to live, and the deaths of his parents and old friends... however, he also brought to light the good ones- obtaining Varion and forging a bond with he and his draconic mount... helping to take down some rather potent foes... but, most important of all... meeting his new friends, those who helped him in his times of need with a caring hand...

And to think... I turned them all away... Garrett's conscience rang out.

His fists clenched once more as he looked back at all those present. Kaiser GaiGar, GekiRyuJin, Big Volfogg, Myrr, Xeno, Kisara... and this new member, who was apparently worried about him as well. He issued a deep sigh, then slowly turned his back on her, turned his back on someone for the last time.

[glow=white,2,300]"I appreciate the concern, but... one of us has done some bad things. He's taken innocent lives, his own included... and he's openly rejected those who cared about him. Not to mention, if Nexus accomplishes his goal, all mankind, and races across the universe will be wiped from existance... if three meager lives are to be traded for all of those, then so be it."[/glow]

"But...!" Thaea tried to interject, voice breaking slightly.

Corona Varion turned back to her, staring her dead in the eyes.

[glow=white,2,300]"Besides... you say you're from the future, right? You know how things will go, your presence here has already shifted Fate's hand. You can stop what may come of us. In fact... if it is to be, then I beg you to do so..."[/glow] He added.

The amalagation of minds under a single, powerful form then took a step back from Thaea as all his jets ignited once more. He snapped a casual, two-fingered salute to the heroes of Nightshade that stood nearby, and boomed,

[glow=white,2,300]"To everyone else here, Garrett has something to say: He... apologizes... for everything he's done. He wishes that if there was anything he could do to rectify his mistakes, learn a bit more about all of you... return your helping hands... he would. If we survive- he will do all in his power to do so... he swears on his life, and his honor... that he will do so. He thanks you all for what you've done, and wishes you all a grand lifetime. But... one last thing... he wants to know your name."[/glow]

He finished the line by jabbing a claw at thaea, who blinked in surprise, trying to force back sudden moisture in her eyes at his speech.

"I... I'm Thaea... Shive and Myrr's daughter..." She meekly replied, clasping her hands.

Corona Varion slowly nodded, muttering,

[glow=white,2,300]"Such a lovely name... so similar to the name of the planet I once loved. Alright, Thaea... we beg of you, as the Knight of the Lost Planet Thalea... to do all you can to keep us from fulfilling this terrible fate you speak of, if it is to come to light. That is our final favor. Now... goodbye."[/glow]

With that, the Astral Harbinger, the Thalean Knight, the Burning Mantle of the Cobalt Planet... a single human sheathed in layers of the hope of a dead alien race ascended rapidly into the sky in pursuit of the already-orbital Nexus, eyes and spirit alight with determination. Thaea could only watch numbly as the burning white point of light quickly dissapeared into the sky, then slowly collapsed to her knees, gritting her teeth against a sudden flow of tears.

"But... that's why I came back... to stop this from happening... you just... made it all for... g-goddamnit...!" She cried, slamming her fists into the ground.

Shiryu stood up after Corona Varion took off after Nexus. He moved to Thaea's side and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Thaea I am truly sorry that none of us could stop him from making his sacrifice. All we can do now is take measures to prevent the darkened form from rising. Should you ever need a helping or comforting hand, know that Mercurio and I will be there among your family if you need it."

He picked up Mercurio and spread his wings taking to the air.

"Please Thaea think about it and take care", he said taking off for their house.

A few seconds after the reapers left, Solranous and ChoRyuJin landed in the general area, the former of the two glancing around at every body, before scowling.

[shadow=black,left,300]"Let me guess... we just missed the leader of the Cromians. Either he's been killed, or he's fled the scene... and given from the general emotion of a certain recent time traveller, I'm betting more on the second option..."[/shadow]

Kisara merely nodded to the dragon. "Yeah, Nexus took flight and seems to be heading into space. Garrett took off soon after to chase him down..."

Solranous blinked in minor surprise. [shadow=black,left,300]"This... poses a problem... If they intend to battle in space, then there is nothing most of us can do to help him... And even if they were going somewhere with a breathable atmosphere... unless it was O'Malley's battleship in space and the droid didn't mind, which he probably would, then it would be much to far away for me to Flash Step too, even alone..."[/shadow] the dragon mused, trying to think of a plan.

ChoRyuJin joins his brothers, who looked to the sky as Varion flew higher and higher. "He...he's going to sacrifice himself..." GekiRyuJin mutters.

"We would have done the same thing Brother...." ChoRyuJin answers back. Big Volfogg still stands silent as he looks up to the clouds which were diverted thanks to the speed of Varion. "For once..." ChoRyuJin mutters to himself, "I don't know what to do..."

"We'll support him!" Kaiser GaiGar says to the robots, "Even if we can't fight on his side...we'll lend him our strength..our courage!!"

The three robots look to Kaiser GaiGar and nod in approval. Mic Sounders also nods as he lands next to ChoRyuJin, GekiRyuJin, and Big Volfogg.

Thaea looked up at the sky, no longer audibly sobbing, but... tears still streamed down her face as she blankly stared into the twilight sky above her. Her heart clenched in pain as she saw a bright point of light appear in the sky for about a dozen seconds, then wink away, only to be followed by a small, glowing-red streak. It arced across thesky slowly at first, then quickly sped up, remaining in view for about 15 seconds before it, too... dissapeared. Her jaw loosened slightly, the tears refusing to stop as she stared up in astonishment.

"Wait... he... he shouldn't have done that... the Einst were supposed to appear shortly after... there shouldn't have been... anything... to fall..."

She paused, then gave a shakey smile through the salty water streaming down her face. She rubbed her arm across her eyes, muttering,

"He's right... my... my being here did stop it... it really... was worth it... ... ... thank you... and... rest in peace, please..."

With that, she slowly rose to her feet, sniffling, before she jammed her hands into her pockets, watching the slowly-darkening sky as she made her way out of the ravaged area.

Still... I wish it didn't have to end... quite like this... if only we hadn't lost that one life today... I really would've liked to see what Krieger was like before... She thought.
