Volk finally made it to the river's waterfall and found a nice sturdy rock beneath it and sat there. He allowed the frigid water to fall over him cleansing his body and mind. He was no longer coughing and the fiery feeling had left him so long as he didn't run but even then it wasn't horrible.
"So now I wait for daybreak and then Ashen should be along sometime afterwards. In the meantime I think I'll just chill here", he said with a sigh.
Grosspoliner lay on the rock beside him ever silent knowing that Volk was not to be disturbed. The water pounded Volk's body working like a massage and loosening up his tightened muscles while he meditated on his recent events.
So much has happened even though it's only been about 3 days since I borke free from my imprisonment. I've gotta slow things down a bit. I mean I've only had two fights already and been torn up a fair deal in each one.
He wrinkled his face as he continued his thoughts.
Though I have met two people that I feel I might be able to trust, Lora and Ashen, both of the Darkwood Pack. Ashen went so far as to offer me a place in his pack having only seen me once and under intrusion of his territory as well. Then Lora who I watched gain an ancient Aspect not seen by this generation I'm sure. I also fought alongside her and learned that she was the niece of Ashen. It was then I learned his name though as he hadn't told me when we first met. damn must I be ushered along by fate's hand so quickly?
He relaxed his face and exhaled deeply allowing the water to continue its pounding upon him with amazing force. Undisturbed by the water and finding it relaxing instead he closed his eyes and let his body fully recover from the Nightstalker attack while he waited for Ashen to find him.

Several minutes later, the early summer sun began to slowly rise, and all was quiet. Queit, until several chittering gurgles shot through the air... followed by the things that made the noise. Three of those green chrysalis-like humanois hurtled through the air and crashed into the ground, detonating against the river bank in several waves of green flame.
"I don't know who or what you guys are, but damn... you make excellent punching bags." A filtered voice called.
Another one of the creatures, this one apparently molted, stumbled down the slope that led to the river. It appeared much like a humanoid wasp or the like, a dusky yellow and gray in color. It shrieked at the trees as an armored figure stepped out, twirling what seemed to be a guard-less black sword.
"Now, you wanna try that super-fast thing again? 'cause you know what'll happen..." The blue-and-gray entity chimed with a smirk in its voice.
The Worm, as the previous one had called itself, slammed its clawed hands on the ground and charged at Varion, energy crackling into its right hand as it did so. Garrett sighed, then swiped the weapon to the side in a readied stance as the Worm leapt at him, then abruptly dissapeared. The Harbinger's eyes narrowed, then, in a flash of steel, whirled around in a circle with the weapon.
"For someone moving at those speeds... you're rather predictable." He muttered, resheathing the weapon in his shoulder.
It was then an explosion of yellow fire shook the area just behind the Thalean Knight, the light glinting off of the semi-charred silver metal that covered the biomechanical entity within. He sighed, then skidded down the slope and stopped at the river, disengaging Varion as he did so. Looking rather pale and thin, Garrett staggered forward into the river, a cloud of steam shooting up from its surface as he did so.
"Guhh... so tired... and hungry..." He muttered upon re-surfacing.
He shook his head rapidly, sending droplets of water flying. He glanced into the river and noted several dead fish surfacing around him, and scowled.

Volk opened one of his eyes when he heard the comotion to see what the hell he would have to deal with this time. When he looked he saw those bugs he had fought alongside Lora though these were a bit different. He didn't have to worry as this new face had eliminated them already keeping him safe from any further combat for now.
"So they attacked you as well. Nice to know my situation wasn't an isolated case. I must commend on taking them out like that the speed thing gave me trouble and you saved me from a third fight in the span of two days", he said still sitting under the waterfall as he continued his meditation.
He wasn't too interested in this figure but as long as he didn't want to fight he could stand to talk a bit. He let out a heavy sigh as he let the waterfall rejuvenate his body one breath at a time. He no longer felt any effect from the fumes of the Nightstalkers and felt rather healthy though tired to say the least.

"Yeah... no problem..." Garrett muttered, flopping down on the bank.
"Little shits came out of nowhere and bum-rushed us! What the hell are they?!" His watch shouted.
Garrett lazily clapped a hand over the watch in order to silence it, and sighed, staring up at the early-morning sky, watching the darkness slowly fade away. He slowly held up his hand, of which had slight burns on it. He clenched his fist, wincing slightly at the dull pain that shot through his body at that moment.
My time's getting shorter and shorter... what happened to the couple of years I had left?! He thought angrily.
He scowled at his fist for a few moments, then sighed, shaking his head.
Doesn't matter, I guess... as long as I finish off Nexus like I'm supposed to do... I didn't have much of a life to live after that anyway... He added.
He let his hand fall back onto the sand and closed his eyes.
"You got a name...?" He sighed aloud to Volk.

"Yeah I got a name. People call me Volk", he replied. "As for what they are I have no clue except that they aren't here to make peace, only to tear us to pieces."
Volk remained on his rock watching this guys observe his fist among other things.
Wonder what's eating him, figuratively and literally.
"So you've got my name now what's yours? And did I really hear that watch of yours talk", he questioned the guy on the shore.
The water was surely cold to anyone that came into contact with it bu Volk felt wonderful letting it's frigidness rush over his body and pound it down into the rock.
"Oh hey one other thing what were you able to learn about those bugs before you killed them? I haven't seen one of those you were fighting before. Swapping info might be a good idea so that, should they attack again, they won't cause so much trouble", he said wanting to know more about whatever attacked him and this other guy.

Garrett scowled at the lycan's constant stream of questions, muttering loudly in response,
"Name's Garrett, yes my watch talked, and all I learned was that the green ones molt into the bigger, nastier ones, where they get the ability to shoot off friggin energy blasts and move really, really fast."
He sighed irritably, opening his eyes slowly.
"This is doubtful, but I gotta ask.... have you seen any biomechanical monsters around lately...? Specifically one that kinda looks like I did with that armor, but black and purple?"
He popped his neck, issuing a silent 'ow' as he did so.
That bastard's been gone for far too long... he's planning something... He thought with the same scowl.

"Can't say that I have seen anything that fits that specific description of yours though I did see a large nasty beast over in Darkwood territory that was looking for something. Had a real dark coloration and a strange head", he replied. "I doubt that's what your looking for but I'm not sure if that can help your search in general. That's about all I've seen besides bugs by the tons."
He sat in silence once more under the cool water. He layed out flat on the rock letting the water pound on his back while he closed his eyes relaxing.

He didn't understand what Darkwood territory meant, but he did know who Volk spoke of.
"TERAGUS..." Varion hissed.
Garrett abruptly hopped to his feet, looking frantic.
"Looking for something?! Did he happen to say what it was?! Where's 'Darkwood territory'?!" He spat out in rapid succession.
He slowly bared his teeth in an anxious scowl, then abruptly brought his watch up and re-summoned Varion to himself, the armor attaching via dozens of biomechanical tendrils.
"TELL ME, goddamnIT!! I don't have time to waste here! PLEASE!" He roared.

Volk remained calm sprawled on the rock. He lifted his head up high enough to look at Garrett and smirked.
"Well for starters I saw him rummaging around the forest where the tree line begins near the volcanic crater. As for what he was looking for, no clue, may have been an item may have been someone. the only thing that stood out from there besides him is a curious pair one of which was a girl and the other male though it appeared pure black no shading or anything. Could be them he was looking for", he said resting his head back on the rock. "I'd show you myself but I'm waiting for someone. Though looking for large tracks will do you some good since he likely left some of those and a bit of destruction of trees as well."
He went silent after he told Garrett what he knew and start to doze slightly not knowing what the kid would do now that Volk had given out all of his information.
Gah did he have to go crazy like that? Boy's got issues I'll say, though we all have our problems.
He issued a loud sigh as the tension in his back was released by the cold water pounding on it.

Garrett's hands clenched as he tried to determine who it was Volk spoke of. Coming up with a blank, for he'd never seen Void with Elena, he sighed, shaking his head.
"Whatever. I'll figure it out later. Thanks for the info, err... Volk." He muttered.
With that, his wings shot out, jets buzzing into life...
[glow=purple,2,300]"Looking for us, are you, Harbinger...?"[/glow] A familiar voice boomed.
Garrett abruptly paused, then whirled around to face the treeline. Just beyond the trees, he could discern the remaining three Ether Lords: Teragus, Pyraxus, and Chrysalia. His fists clenched and crackled with energy as he opened his mouth to say something... only to get silenced as a MUCH larger figure stepped out of the trees.
"NEXUS?!" Both Garrett and his armor cried in surprise.
What was once the Cromian Patriarch was now much, much bigger. About 20 feet bigger. And got pretty top-heavy too. A massive, blade-like horn stretched out from his head, and a pair of large pylons stretched up from his wide shoulders. He swiped a massive, scimitar-like weapon to the side as he spread his arms and asked,
[glow=purple,2,300]"Impressed? An anonymous fan granted me this new form... I must say, it's a bit bulky, but it's given me a MAGNIFICENT power boost..."[/glow]
"All it's done is make you look even more horrific..." Garrett/Varion muttered, drawing forth his Orion Blades.
Nexus gave a booming laugh, replying,
[glow=purple,2,300]"Why thank you, Harbinger! Now... if you would please... come with us..."[/glow]
Varion/Garrett did a double-take, then laughed.
"HA! NOW WHY THE HELL WOULD I-"
Garrett's eyes widened as he noticed Nexus now standing behind him. He slowly turned his head to look back at Nexus as the Ether Lord hissed,
[glow=purple,2,300]"Because I asked you nicely..."[/glow]
Varion/Garrett was downed with a large burst of black energy, and Nexus promptly grabbed the teen by the head and hefted him up into the air. He nodded to the other three, barking,
[glow=purple,2,300]"Let us start with the plan...! Teragus, Pyraxus, Chrysalia! You know where to go and what to do! DO NOT FAIL ME AGAIN!"[/glow]
The three monsters nodded, and Nexus abruptly spread a pair of thin, blade-like wings before rocketing into the air and out of sight. The three slowly glanced at Volk, and Chrysalia scoffed.
"Leave it be... we have work to do."
With that, the three retreated into the trees, leaving Volk to himself.

Volk quirked an eybrow at the event that had just taken place in front of him. He didn't know what was happening nor did he care for it much. He sighed and returned to his light sleep under the waterfall as he waited for Ashen to find him.
"He must have some really stubborn Elders as they all seem to be. He probably tests their patience at every turn. Well if anything we should get along pretty well", he muttered to himself.
Master you don't think you should try and help that Garrett person do you?
"No Grosspoliner. If I had tried to do anything those three would have torn me to bits and I wouldn't have even slown them down enough to throw them off schedule. So the best thing was to leave things to take their course."
Why does he always have to question what I do and don't do? It can get a bit annoying at times honestly.

Several minutes passed before the pounding of padded feet came to Volk's attention, then abruptly stopped. Down the river, a single gray-tan wolf stood, sniffing about at the air, looking rather confused as it did so. It whined for a moment, then abruptly its ears perked up, then charged down the rocky beach, slowing to a stop at the waterfall. It then shifted into a human female, looking rather concerned.
"Uhh.... are you Volk?" She asked.

Volk's ears twitched when the question reached him. He grabbed Grosspoliner and jumped into the water and made his way to the shore where the female Lycan was.
"Yeah I'm Volk. Ashen sent you I assume. So what's the word then", he questioned. "You here to tell me I'm rejected or am I going to have a date with your elders?"
He stood waiting for her to respond to him not wanting to intimidate her too much. He was however slightly tapping one of his feet on the rocks since he wasn't the most patient person in the world.

The femme messenger scowled at Volk's impatience, then briskly replied,
"Luckily for you, Packleader Ashen managed to get the Elders convinced to let you in. Your initiation tests will be a month from now, on the night of the full moon. Just head up to our territory, and we'll find you from there. Got it? You should consider your good fortune..."
With that, she gave a derisive sniff, turned around on her heel, and quickly shifted into her wolf form, bounding off into the trees.

Volk watched the girl run off.
"Well aren't we...nice. Bah whatever she was just a messenger. Well I've got a month til those tests so may as well beef up and work on my mind and being in touch with my Aspect. Well better get to work now", he said.
With that he went about making himself a small camp around the area since it was his ideal spot to train in. He had a calming environment that would allow him to train mind and body together as one. He could even access his Aspect rather easily with all the water around him.
"Well Ashen I don't know about you but this could be quite interesting. I'll not only take your tests and pass them but I'm looking to set a performance record on them as well", he said looking into the sky with an unbreakable will in his eyes.
