The demonic, living armor covering his frame abruptly 'melted' into Daedalus's scales, his pelvic/hips and thighs being an exception (though the armor notably thinned) and he issued a sigh, sitting on the edge of a spring. He rubbed his neck while muttering,
"shit... I'm... really tired... did not expect that..."
With a groan, he slid completely into the spring and tilted his head back, letting out a content sigh.
"Gah... I can see why everyone's a fan of the place..." He muttered, resting his arms on the edge of the spring.
He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, thinking,
It's... probably too late to get the surprise on Arthreonus... I'm sure he knows by now... ah well. Knowing that bastard, he'll just sit back and be amused while I struggle to find the damned Crests... and I' sure that as soon as I do, his lackey's will all pop out and bum-rush me...
He rubbed his neck again, pondering aloud as his eyes drifted open,
"I guess... this is what I get for all those years evil... hmph. Hell alone was enough to prove that..."
His eyes narrowed, and seemed to glisten for a moment as he added in thought,
I... I just want to get this over with... I don‘t expect a place in Heaven, or even an escape from Hell afterwards… I just want my revenge…
He paused, eyes widening a bit.
… I guess… I know how Brother feels… how ironic…
He sighed once more, leaning back further as he closed his eyes again. Meanwhile, in another spring nearby, a dog-sized, dark-blue form floated atop the water, eyes closed as it lazily floated about. It knew Daedalus had gotten in nearby, but did it care? Not at all. It was far too busy worrying about its own problems...
I can't see anyone now, can I...? No... not at this point... I'm too far into this thing...
He sighed, shaking his head lightly.
I wish there was a way to fix this problem... then we could just rally the base and take that bastard down... but, no... not this time. It's a Great Old One we're dealing with... and they can't be killed by most mortal means-
He paused, eyes flaring open.
... most mortal means...
He continued to float, eyes locked in the same position, then one of the twitched.
"Ye gods, it's almost crazy enough to work..." He muttered.
"Ya mean a Weapon of the Hind?" Daedalus lazily asked, having picked up on the mental conversation.
"Yeah... but a Dagger's too small to use... need something bigger... like, a Lance... but that'd be hard as hell to get..." Mortis muttered back.
"Yeah... but... I'm pretty sure that Vazaad guy could help ya find one..."
Mortis scratched his head with a wing, muttering,
"Yeah... ya got a point... hmm. I'll have to contact him some time."
Daedalus grunted in acknowledgement, surprised the wyrmling was spekaing so casually to him. He shrugged, then both parties continued their soaking in silence.

Darkray was laying on top of a rock with his arms behind his head and eyes closed as Daed took his break. As much as he hated wasting time he couldn't think of anything better to do since he wasn't the one with the information.
"So Daed tell me if you should last beyond this quest for vengeance what will you do afterwards? You seem so ready to die that it's like you would kill yourself should you not die fulfilling your wishes", he said to the dragonkin below. "Oh and one more thing should you die what would happen to the deep magic energies you used and that possibly flow through your body?"
Darkray still lay on his back not bothering to look down to Daed at all and just kept his face pointed up with his eyes closed. He never really bothered to give notice to Mortis since he didn't have any dealings with the small wyrmling at the time and left him alone to do his own thing.

Daedalus gave a grimacing sigh, followed by a harsh laugh.
"Ha! You say it like I have a chance of surviving... look Darkray, the moment I kill that bastard- if I really manage to do so- ALL of the Six Hells will be in an instant uproar! They'll all be scrambling to kill the one who slew the Baron of the Night, so they may receive the position! The Crest of Infinity is indee dpowerful, but even with it, I couldn't fight off that many demons!"
He sighed, giving another bitter laugh.
"So yes, it's essentially a suicide mission... but... it doesn't matter... so long as I can drag that bastard down with me..."
His smirk weakening, he stared at the water's surface, shoulders shaking in what may have been several silent laughs.
"There is nothing on any mortal plane for me... power is only to further towards my goal of self-annhiliation... greed is trivial, as is lust... heh. I no longer feel the need to commit acts of evil... seems a stay in Hell has definately changed me... that much, is certain..." He sighed.
He shrugged, then added,
"As for the Deep Magic? It'll probably be released in a dangerous way upon my death... most likely a dimensional tear, or knowing the Abyss, bring a hell of a lot of powerful, mindless shadow demons into existance... so sorry, it's a no-go for you."
Mortis listened to the conversation in slight horror.
He seems so willing to give up... yes, he's done a lot of evil things, but it sounds like... well... almost like regrets doing so... at least I'm trying to solve my problem... but he's just throwing away his chance at redemption... ... well, his choice I guess... He thought.

Darkray merely listened to Daed make his explanation of the situation and what it entailed. He had no reason to go after the deep energies within Daed but if there was a way he could have gotten his hands on it he certainly wouldn't have minded doing so.
"Oh well least you've got things planned out for yourself. I don't see any problems with marching to your death as long as there's some goal you try to achieve at the same time. Guess it can't be helped then. So... Mortis was it?... what kind of struggles might you be having with the world right now?", he tossed the question towards the wymrling rather casually. "You seem like an interesting character not to mention there's something about you that feels rather evil."
Again he stayed in the same postition not caring for the niceties and politics involved with talking to others. He was only interested in simple info and not the emotions tacked on with them by those who spoke them.

Mortis scowled, then briskly replied,
"Well, if you must know, asswipe... I'm the essential avatar of an extremely derranged deity of madness know as Cthulhu. The calamari-thing has infected me with his energies, and at random times, he'll turn me into a tentacled freak-of-nature that can turn almost anything insane just by looking at me. One day, he hopes to use me as a portal to bring himself back onto the Material Plane. Obviously, I'm a bit upset by it."
He snorted twin jets of cryogenic mist, teeth bared in an angry scowl.
"But I may have found a way to rid myself of that bastard once-and-for-all... and hopefully, my tainted side as well..."
He stared back down into the water, issuing a heavy sigh.
"Maybe then... I'll be able to see Cynder again..."

Darkray smirked slightly thoug he new the others couldn't see it since he was well elevated above them.
"A touchy subject I see... very well I'll drop it then. So Daed how are we even going to find these Demon Crests. Only two people on the planet know where they're hidden and I highly doubt they'd willingly hand us the information. So we have no means of tracking them by the energy they emit and I suppose they have some form of protection to deal with as well. This could take a while to do", he mused.
We certainly have gotten a strange crowd amassed here in the time I was sealed away. They could make for good fodder to try and restore the true master of Yomi No Kuni. I imagine that it would only take a few of these people to resurrest him entirely.
He sat thinking about how he could use this quest to further his goal of obtaining a rank within the higher ups of the underworld. The possibilities were numerous but many were far out of reach for him in his current state.

Daedalus nodded, sighing as he did so.
"Yeah... the only way we can find them is to ask the Myrr's... and I highly doubt it'll do me any good... they and I are not on the best of terms..."
He looked over at Darkray and suggested,
"They don't know you yet... maybe you could try to ask them?"
Mortis scoffed aloud, then dove down into the spring, settling on the rocky floor. His eyes closed as he began to fall asleep...
[glow=limegreen,2,300]A Weapon of the Hind? You honestly think that'll be enough to kill me...? Oh, you poor, hopeful little creature...[/glow]
Mortis's bloodshot eyes snapped open, and he smirked to himself.
Sorry, 'Boss', but your reverse psychology won't work on me... true, it may need a bit of modification, but it will work... I know those who are strong enough to defy you...!
[glow=limegreen,2,300]And after you pushed them away? What makes you think they'll want to help you...?[/glow]
Mortis's smirk fell away, and he gritted his teeth.
I haven't done so... th... they forgave me...
A deep, very loud, rumbling laugh shot through Mortis's mind, forcing the wyrmling to wince as it did so.
[glow=limegreen,2,300]If you think so... hmph. I suppose we'll see when the time comes... but, for now...[/glow]
The voice faded, but sadly, his presence did not... Mortis's eyes widened as far as they could go, and he gave a gargling scream as he started to change...
Meanwhile, Daedalus was still musing about the plan.
"Of course, your appearance doesn't exactly help your case... and your 'Shiryu' may have already informed them about you... damnit..." He growled.

Darkray layed there as he listened to Daed's ideas. He ran over them in his head for a minute before he replied.
"You have a point about my looks and Shiryu has likely informed them of me already and if not him then that large lizard Solranous has instead. Either way my chances of getting anything from them are slim to none", he followed up to Daed's thoughts. "Is there anyway we can cut some sort of deal with them for the information to the location of the crests?"
He lay there wondering how they were going to pull this off. Obtaining this information would likely be the hardest part of this little quest and after they do get it they would have it easy from then on.
"And you're sure that there's no way of tracking them down on our own without this info? Plus if we do ask those two where they are and they don't tell us I have a feeling they would likely try and move them somewhere else so there's always the possibility of following them if they do", he suggested.
This could be a major pain if we can't figure out some way to get the girls to tell us or lead us to the location of the crests. It would take weeks to find them on our own with no leads at all. We'd better find aa way to get that info from them soon

Daedalus sighed, muttering,
"The Crests cannot be scryed in any known way... even the most powerful Divinations cannot discern their location."
He bit his clawed thumb, thinking on the matter a bit more.
"As for bargaining, well... I can't think of anything they'd want... my brother seems to make them happy enough as is."
His shoulders slumped a bit at that, and he muttered something under his breath before snapping back to attention.
"Threats would undoubtedly fail... they'll rely on their father, of whom is more than capable of annihilating us both... not to mention my brother, who simply refuses to die..."
He gave an irritated growl, rumbling,
"Must everything about this be a goddamned TRIAL?!"
He sighed, shaking his head, then tilted his head to ask Mortis something...
[glow=limegreen,2,300]"I GOT PLACES TO GO AND PEOPLE TO BREAK!!!"[/glow]
The otherworldly monstrosity known as Elder Mortis was already halfway out of the spring, issuing that malevolent grin as his other half slithered out after him. The eyes on his spreading wings spiraled about, looking at everything they could with their daemonic vision. Clouds of that icy-black mist rolled out of his open maw as he tensed his leg-muscles, then bound into the sky, issuing an echoing roar across the mountainside as the tentacled behemoth dissapeared into the night.
Daedalus's jaw hung open as he stared at the location Mortis had just been at, then blinked, turning to Darkray.
"D... did you just see that... that thing?! Holy sh*t! I knew this 'Cthulhu' was bad, but... to make something like THAT with just a wyrmling?!"

Darkray sat up when he heard Elder Mortis take off. He watched the wyrmling go on ihs way and turned to Daed afterwards.
"Who'd have thought that little guy had such a horrific transformation in him. I think it's a good thing I didn't push it further with him. So neither of us are favored at all and we can't track them down on our own or with any type of magic period. What else is there for us to do then?", he inquired his last thought aloud.
He sat still admiring the handiwork of Elder Mortis as he sat. This world got stranger and stranger the longer he stayed in it and observed. He could only imagine what all he would see in the next thousand years of his life.

Daedalus blinked, swallowing past a sudden lump in his throat.
No wonder the kid wants free... ... wait... doesn't he... have a connection with Shive...? ... if so, he's probably friends of the Myrr's...
Daedalus suddenly gave an innocent grin, thinking,
Where am I to find a Lance of the Hind...?
He glanced over at the side of the spring, the demonic sword Ashardalon stabbed into the rock not too far from Darkray. He reached over and took a hold of the thing's handle, asking,
"Ash... would it be possible to use some of the Deep Magic to open a portal back home?"
The sword hissed in response, but the hiss seemed, well... hesitant, almost worried. Daedalus scowle,d then barked,
"I don't care about the reprocussions! They can deal with the damned tear when I have the Crests!"
He sighed, then looked over to Drakray and rumbled,
"I think we may have a way to persuade them to give us those Crests... and that thing that just flew off is a part of the puzzle."
He wringed his claws and muttered,
"We're heading to the Realm of Outcasts... to find a god-slaying weapon. With it, we can give it to 'the good guys' so they can get rid of that Cthulhu and set their little wyrmling friend free...!"

"Sounds good to me. I'm ready to go whenever you are so just lead the way when the time comes. So what's this Realm of Outcasts? Sounds like you are very familiar to it and I assume that since you are your brother is as well and possibly that little one we shall be chasing down at some point", he said standing up on the rock as he waited for Daedalus to make his move.
Well seems like things are finally kicking up. Hopefully his little plan will work out. No way to know until we try it.
He hopped down off the rock and put his hands in his pockets as he waited in the rock's shade.

Daedalus sighed, hauling himself out of the spring as his armor took on its full form once more. Popping his clawed hands by simply clenching them, he replied,
"The Realm of Outcasts would be considered another Material Plane, or so I understand. It's... complicated to explain, but it's a lot like this realm... but, well, magic is definately more profound, and the species there are far more fantastic. It's like, err... 'fantasy' or 'mythology' to the humans of this world. It's also my original plane... as it is my brother's and the wyrmling's."
He sighed, muttering,
"I haven't been there in a good decade or so... I hope everything hasn't changed too much..."
He shrugged, then wrenched Ashardalon out of the ground, grunting in an ecstatic tone as he held the sword up above his head.
"Now... carve open a Gate for me, Fang of the Crimson Ravager...!"
Ashardalon let out an ear-piercing shriek as Daedalus's arm began to glow a shimmering blue, the glow surging down into Ashardalon's handle. With a roar, Daedalus swept the blade forward, the blade glowing like the reflection of water as it seemed to cut through the air itself. A gaping, jagged hole was split down said air, inside of which could be seen a shimmering, distorted landscape. Daedalus panted, leaning against his living sword as he muttered,
"It'll be open for about four minutes... any questions?"

"Just one... how quickly do you think we can wrap things up?", Darkray challenged.
He turned to the portal and stepped inside it to the realm on the other side and waited for Daed to follow as well. As he waited he looked around at this new plane of existence.
"This is certainly an interesting place. I can see why you and your brother would have such powers as I bet they are necessary just for survival here. Can't wait to see what kind of encounters we might have here", he mused to himself.
But before he got to comfortable with the plane he quickly tested his connection to Yomi No Kuni and found he could not summon it in this realm.
Bah no matter I don't need to rely on it for battle I have other ways of dealing with enemies.

Daedalus staggered through the portal, hauling Ashardalon with him.
"I know of a place that may have what we're looking for." He muttered, closing the portal shut behind himself.
They stood on a burnt, tan-brown landscape, speckled with large craters as far as they could see.
"The Blasted Hearth... hmm... we need to be in Faerun, not Eberron..." Daedalus muttered.
He tore open another portal, this one green in color, as Daedalus was not relying on the Deep Magic here, for did he need to. He led Darkray through it, and through it they stood before a large, stone tower of sorts. It looked haggard and decayed with the ages, yet perveyed a powerful sense of omnipotence and evil.
"The Temple of Elemental Evil... aaah. Haven't been here in quite some time. Alright, this weapon should be on the 47th floor..."
With that, he led Darkray into the structure, in search of the weapon they so desperately required at the moment.
