This is a list of general terms that will be seen frequently around ELL. Note: this list will be updated frequently, so if you have questions, refer to this thread.

Battle Droid- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Droid
Cromians- A race of biomechanical monstrosities capable of incredible regenerative ability and absorption of organic matter. Their only means of reproduction is to fuse a Cromian Cell, a single proto-organism, to a full-fledged living creature, whereupon said creature becomes a full Cromian (the host essentially dies in the process). Cromians are established in a hierarchy similar to ants, with ranks such as Drones, Warriors, etc. (the Queen is replaced by a Patriarch). Cromians are essentially genderless, but may retain a few traits from their host, such as voice (though terribly distorted). Each Cromian has the ability to assimilate mechanical devices, but a terrible vulnerability to gamma radiation (machinery is assimilated to protect themselves from said radiation).
Demon Crests- A set of magical stones capable of giving demonic entities power over their respective aspects (Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Time, and Heaven) and an altered form to accommodate the respective power. When all six Crests are together, they will fuse to become the Crest of Infinity, granting a demonic possessor almost unlimited power.
Dragonkin- A species created when two draconic (but not full dragons; more along the lines of a draconic creature mating with a half-dragon or the like) creatures produce an offspring. They are usually anthropomorphic in shape, with distinguished muzzles, tails, claws, wings, etc. They usually have a breath weapon derived from a parent, and always bear scales of some form and the ability to detect magic.
Ethereal Plane- A dimension directly overlapping the Materal Plane, our dimension, in which the lost souls of the dead frequently reside. Everything here looks the same as in the Material Plane, but with a faint distortion of shape and color. Entities with enough spiritual power can affect objects or entities on the Material Plane, and vice-versa (though the latter is much more difficult; those on the Ethereal Plane attempting to affect the Material Plane may be visible to a physical creature). Most sentient things encountered here are usually souls that cannot pass on, Hollows, Feeders, evil spirits (wraiths) and creatures using abilities that allow them access to this plane.
Feeders- Creatures inhabiting the Ethereal Plane that feed off of negative human emotion, hence their name. Usually seen as hunched, featureless black humanoids with flat faces and yellow, orb-like eyes. The more negative emotion they feed off of one living creature, the more negative emotion that creature exhibits, until intense feelings of hatred, sorrow, paranoia, or the like drive them to suicide. Despite what they do, Feeders are not evil, simply nothing more than animals needing food. Anyone with a significant bond to the Ethereal Plane can easily destroy these creatures by simply locking eyes with them.

Great Old Ones- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Old_One
Guyver- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bio_Booster_Armor_Guyver#The_Guyver_units
Maentwrog- Spiritual creatures capable of eating massive amounts of spiritual energy, whether on the same plane as it or the Material Plane. They usually resemble muscle-bound, hunched reptillian humanoids with thick, lashing tails, black or dark-brown, cracked, leathery hides, elongated, wedge-shaped heads with hateful slit-like eyes, and double-jointed, squat legs, complimented by a pair of long, thick, gorrila-like arms ending in clawed hands. They can devour spiritual energy at frightening speeds, and can go so far as to literally tear a spirit out of a living creature's body; or, if encountering something on the Ethereal Plane, can devour it nigh-instantly. These are evil, hateful creatures driven only by hunger, and are incapable of speech.
Magic, Arcane- A form of magic produced from a caster themselves after intensive study/understanding of the universe and its functions. This falls under several different categories: Abjuration (defensive), Conjuration (summoning), Divination (Scrying), Enchantment (mental manipulation), Evocation (offensive, energy-based), Illusion (as it sounds), Necromancy (life/death manipulation), Transmutation (alteration of an entity/object), and Universal (that which does not fall under any other sub-type).
Magic, Deep/Primal- The oldest form of magic, that which spawned the universe and everything in it, even deities. This magic is extremely powerful and unstable, so much in fact that the gods created by it are hesitant to use it. It is extremely difficult for any mortal to get a hold of it, let alone live long enough to use it properly.
Magic, Divine- Energy used by and bestowed to mortals by the forces of nature and deities. This magic usually lacks the flashiness of arcane magic, but can be used almost limitlessly. This magic can be used to manipulate the elements themselves (not producing them, like Evocation magic), heal living beings (most well-known for) or grant them spontaneous wounds, etc. This magic’s abilities usually revolves around the disposition of the wielder.
Precinct 13- An extremely secretive branch of the government that is focused on the research, peacekeeping, and, if necessary (as well as usually), eradication of paranormal entities. The organization is extremely well-endowed with advanced technology, as well as some of Its own ‘less-than-normal’ members. There’s about 15 ‘known’ bases across the country… one of which is in Nightshade.
Scourge- A race of DNA-assimilating life forms that hail from the far reaches of space. Have a slug-like larval form and assume a twisted rendition of host that DNA was taken from. Scourge Elites can accept multiple DNA strains and utilize them in a vast array of ways, including combinations.

Xenoliths- A distant relative of the Xenomorph bearing a set of wings, poisoned claws, and blood that produces foul fumes upon exposure to air. They reproduce in a process similar to several species of insect, by having a carrier lay the eggs directly into living host, whereupon the larvae will hatch, much like a Chestburster. Xenoliths cannot stand sunlight or the smell of the dead, hence why their hives are always clean of carcasses. Xenoliths also have the ability to mimic any noise they hear perfectly. Xenoliths have a hive system much like their cousins.
