Name: Irys
Age: Thousands, if not tens of thousands, of years old
Alignment: Depends on Spirit Host. Otherwise neutral.
Species: Uhhh....
Height: 98 ft
Weight: 3,000 metric tons
Length: Four 600 ft tentacles
Wingspan: 140 feet (not the tentacle-membranes)
Description: Exactly like Irys from the movie except the two shoulder spikes/extensions split open during flight to reveal very unique wings. These wings look like a cross between a bird’s wings, and Tyreal’s wings from the game Diablo 2, but with shorter “tendrils”. The tendrils look like bird feathers (in shape only; no hairs) made out of the same blue membrane that her tentacles split into. Here's a picture: www.kaijukits.com/library/kaiyodo/iris_maquette/iris.htm
Abilities:
Flight: Irys can fly at mach 2 through a combination of tentacle membranes, wings, and jets.
Spears and Arrows: Irys’ arms have two huge biometal lances in them that are dangerous normally, but can extend rapidly to increase their usefulness as a weapon. Her best use of these is to extend them into a kaiju: the speed at which the can be used is great enough that they become short range railguns capable of piercing through almost any armor or shield. Irys’ tentacles are tipped with small biometal “arrowheads” that can also pierce most armor. These can also open up and then close down with incredible force.
Sonic Cutters: Irys’ inherent beam weapon, these bright yellow-green beams of energy can cut through almost anything given a significant enough charge time.
Energy Sap: If any of Irys’ biometal parts is stuck into a foe, she can draw their energy into herself, healing herself slowly while weakening them. She can also copy their primary (or most generic) energy weapon after absorbing enough energy.
Personality: Irys is interesting in that without a spirit host, that is, someone to guide her actions, she has no particular allegiances or even will to act. However, once connected to another being, their will is hers. She shares their desires, their allegiances, and their hatred. Her foes can only pray that her spirit host does not seek their destruction.
History: Irys was created as a genetic weapon by those who created Gamera. But she was meant to combat the same problem from a different angle. While Gamera was a bio-enhancement device (think kaiju-guyver, and you’re on the right path), Irys was more of human will inserted into a kaiju weapon. This was done to combat the Gyaos threat. Despite Gamera’s efforts and success, he was still failing at controlling the Gyaos explosion. So Irys was born.
Irys was a genetic Frankenstein of Gamera DNA, Gyaos DNA, human DNA, Dagarla DNA, and a new creation called biometal. The biometal grew with and influenced the development of Irys possibly more than anything else. Finally, after years of testing and genetic honing, perfecting had been reached. Irys was connected to her first host, and she was unleashed against the Gyaos together with Gamera in huge tag-team battle. It was brutal, but the two genetic super-monsters came out on top. The Atlanteans had beaten the scourge. They would survive.
But things don’t always turn out right. A small group of insane extremists who believed that the Gyaos were supposed to bring judgment to the people of Atlantis lashed out before the final planned assault could make the Gyaos extinct. They sent two assassins: one to kill the Atlantean king, and one to kill Irys’ spirit host.
The one to kill the king failed, but in the end it didn’t matter, because the other succeeded. But instead of shutting down like they thought she would: she went berserk. It wasn’t the Gyaos that ended the Atlanteans, it was Irys. Once it was over, once she destroyed all of them, she went into hibernation to await a new spirit host.
