Lora leaned against a rock beside a deeper part of the river, head thrown back as she traced the outlines of constellations with her finger. She sighed sadly, her arm slowly falling before shoving it in her jeans pocket. She shifted herself, seemingly unaffected by the cold as she brought her knees up to her chest. She wrapped her arms around said knees as she propped her forehead on the caps, thinking,
Ugh... I feel so... sick lately... I wish it'd stop already...
She closed her eyes, adding,
Sadly, I don't think it'll stop for a while to come... not after that...
She sighed again, shuddering as she bit her lip.
goddamnit, why?! Why me?! Everyone else found someone! Myrr has Shive, Kisara has Sol, even those two little dragons have eachother! Why did the one person I had left who cared for me have to die?! I thought I got over this, X, but no! You had to come and say goodbye, didn't you?!
She slammed her fist into the dirt next to her as she gritted her teeth, tears dribbling down her cheeks.
damnit X, WHY?! Why, of all people, did YOU have to die?! I've heard the explanation, but WHY?! You and your friends died for some stupid cause! Your idiotic sense of 'valor' got you killed!
She curled into herself deeper, still sobbing.
"Why does everyone around me have to die?! Is it because I'm a goddamn lycanthrope?! Is that it?! Do the gods think we're some 'abominations', and they have to punish us for it?! Or am I just a f*cking exception?!"
She threw her head back and let out a piteous scream of anger and sorrow, clutching at her head.
"DAAAAAMNIIIIT!!!!"

"Lora? What's wrong?" a certain substitute Shinigami asked.
Kisara, after the battle in the abandoned district was getting more and more intense, had decided to get the hell out of the way of the others, and left so that they wouldn't have to worry about her.
She sat down near by, still using her physical body, as she detested shifting into her spiritual state, and she didn't have a reason to.
"If you want to talk about something... I'm here to listen..." she finished, knowing just what was getting her down.

Lora turned away from Kisara, muttering,
"You wouldn't... understand..."
She sighed, bringing to mind Solranous's death-ruse. Her shoulders sagged further as she thought about what Kisara might've had to go through during that time. She shook her head, then placed her chin between her kneecaps as she replied in a low, strained tone,
"How... how did you feel when someone first told you that Solranous... was supposedly dead?"
Her eyes drifted to the ground as she waited for a response.

"Shocked. Disbelieving. Horrified. Immense sadness... enough that it felt like an ocean that would swallow me up... And it felt as if a part of my soul broke. Solranous and I are closer then almost anybody else could be. If we shared our thoughts through our link, not even the best of telepaths could tell where his mind ended and mine began. Now... when Solranous did his little fake-out... it might as well have been the same as... say, someone taking an ax and hacking my arm off. The emotional and mental pain was just that great. I couldn't even sleep the first few nights when I found out..."
Kisara sighed, her eyes finding the ground rather interesting at that moment.
"Even that explanation doesn't convey the full force of the feelings. If anything, it's you who doesn't truly understand."
Kisara managed a glance at Lora.
"You lost someone close too... didn't you?"

Lora shook her head, burying her head in her arms as she muttered,
"Just cut out the sh*t, Kisara.... I knew you were there that night. I could smell Onyste a mile away... and I know you two hardly ever leave eachother's sides..."
She curled into herself a bit more, continuing,
"You have a smell similar to Solranous when he uses his sword, too... it's... not that hard to put two-and-two together...."
She sniffled, and was silent for quite some time.
"We werewolves are more in-tune with the spirit world than you think..."
She pulled her head upwards, just enough so her bloodshot eyes were visible.
"I know what he said... 'tying up loose ends'... it... it hurts to know... that I was important enough to him.... that he'd do that..."
She sniffled again, closing her eyes.
"I just... why him, of all people? Why'd he have to go and die?!"

Kisara frowned at that.
"Sorry..."
She sighed to herself. Lora was right, she didn't realize how in tune with the spirit world werewolves were. She then mentally smacked her own head, realizing she should have at least suspected, seeing as she could see X's spirit.
"I don't know why... Fate's cruel like that... it's not the end though... You can see him again... I know Solranous has something that allows those still alive to visit Heaven. We could find X for you there, and the two of you could talk for a bit... Maybe after all this is over, I can convince him to take you there to see him again."
Kisara got up and walked over to the lycanthrope, kneeling down.
"If anything... he's probably looking down on the two of us right now... You don't want him to see you sad, now do you?" she asked, placing a hand on Lora's shoulder. The substitue Shinigami smiled, trying to lift the werewolf's spirits.

Lora sighed, shaking her head.
"That's... likely... and no, I don't think he'd want to see me like... this..."
She glanced skyward, muttering,
"As for seeing him again.... I don't think that'll happen, as much as I'd like it to. He wouldn't want that; he told me to move on..."
She abruptly smiled, eyes tearing up again.
"It's ironic... O'Malley basically said the same thing a few months back..."
She sniffled, brushing at her eyes.
"He's not so bad, once you get to know him..."

Kisara exhaled softly.
"Eh, I thought I'd throw the option out to you, in case you wanted it."
She then grinned at the 'ironic' comment. "Yeah... Irony's a bitch when it comes to that...
However... during the whole 'I'm gonna nuke the city' phase he had, I'm sure you can understand if I don't think too highly of him... Of course... I'm not sure whether I can fully blame that on him or not... Doesn't matter, past is past. Memories can be nice... but that's honestly all they are... I haven't forgiven him yet for that phase, but I'm not angry at him."
She shook her head and sighed.
"Dang it, now I'm getting off track..."

She sighed, muttering,
"I don't think he's forgiven himself for it... he was really messed up during that period in time... sure, he never really liked people in the first place, but..."
She shook her head, adding,
"...he may not look like it, but... O'Malley actually detests the thought of any kind of violence short of defending himself and the people he cares about. I still don't know what could've triggered him into doing such a thing..."
She shrugged, a blank, tired look replacing her sorrowful expression from before. She looked at Kisara, gave a sad smirk, and was about to say something when a deep, growling voice cut in,
"He may be an ass, but he's the reason I'm alive at the moment..."
Lora whipped around to see a humanoid shape leaning against a tree on the forest's edge, glowing green lights placed in parallel positions on its body. Or, more accurately, its armor...
"Who... who're you...?"
The being lifted his head, revealing a squarish 'muzzle' of which had three lines running away from its center... mandibles. It smirked, giving a quick two-fingered salute (for he only had three fingers on either hand), and replied,
"Sangheili ex-bounty hunter Barias Dural'thi."

"Sangheili... Barias..." Kisara mused, thinking to herself for a moment. Then, her eyes glimmered in realization.
"Hey, you were at the party after the Aparoids and Armageddon got their tails handed to them!
...
But what do you mean, 'the reason your alive at the moment'? What happened to you?" Kisara asked, tilting her head in confusion.
(OOC: Soooo tempted to bring a few... 'friends' in right now...)

((Barias: *aims Fuel Rod Cannon at Azure's head* If I even smell Flood, so help me I will unload every one of these rounds into you...))
Barias's eyes narrowed, and he muttered,
"Some guy named Khimera bum-rushed me and basically left me for dead... not much was left of me except maybe my head and enough torso to support my right arm. O'Malley found me before I flatlined, and had me placed in a 'regeneration tank' for the past few months... I woke up about a week ago, the bot filled me in on the details, and I just got out about twelve hours ago."
He blinked, then scratched his head.
"It's as good an explanation for anyone else around here coming back after missing for a while..." He grumbled.
Lora snickered at that. Barias shrugged, then turned to the two again as he asked,
"The droid seemed to be in a real-damn-hurry when he let me out though... never explained that. Mind filling me in?"

(OOC: Never planned on the Flood. Reading about them isn't enough for me to get decent enough descriptions for 'em... That, and I never played any of the Halo Series... No, you'll see who in this post)
Kisara sighed.
"An army of demons is unleashing Hell on Earth... lead by what I assume is some kind of gigantic gray-and-red centaur-like being... or so that's what Solranous told me... O'Malley probably sent his own army and is by their side now to boost morale and add his own considerable fire power."
She shook her head, muttering something about wishing she could actually do something, before she tensed, and jumped away just in time to avoid a spiked 'whip' that tore through the ground she was standing on just seconds ago. As she landed, Kisara shifted into her spiritual state and drew her Zanpoktou as a green-tinted black vortex with two of the spiked whips swirled into existance.
"That.... Can't be good..." Kisara murmured just in time for the vortex to expand, catching her within its depths. She was still visible, but only barely in small breaks in the vortex.
"Ahh!" she screamed in surprise as the wind speed in the vortex started whipping her Shinigami robes about and forcing her to cover her face in an instictual fear of some rocks kicking up to strike her. When she adjusted enough to lower her arms, she gasped at what what she saw. Green sludge-like monsters with vaugely humanoid bodies, a stalk replacing the legs, and lanky arms tipped with clawed 'bulbs' of hands reared their ugly, eyeless heads to 'look' at her.
This was the most basic form... of the Krawl.
"Definetly not good..." Kisara muttered, shifted into a battle stance, and charged at the Krawl, cutting them down rapidly.

((Barias: ... *scratches head* ..kay... *glares at Talon* I know someone who DOES have enough info on 'em though...))
Barias narrowed his eyes, grumbling,
"Those... they can't be what I think they are... hey, what happened to the purple-haired one?"
Barias blinked, glancing at Kisara's 'unconscious' body before Lora dragged it off into the trees, yelling,
"I'll explain later!"
Barias blinked, then shrugged, unsheathing both of his Plasma Rifles, growling,
"I never really paid attention when these things were discussed in Ancient Zoology... then again, I didn't pay much attention during those lectures anyway!"
With that, he unleashed a barrage of plasmatic hell into their midst, hoping it'd be of at least some effect.

"WHO THE F***ING HELL ATTRACTED THOSE damn KRAWL!?" A certain Villakroma roared as she charged out of the forest, her forehead cannon glowing and firing rapidly into the vortex. Chiggar's expression was one of instictual and induced rage. The Villakroma charged at the vortex, the spiked whips lashing out and merely bouncing off her shell as a red 'aura' flickered into existance around her, growing to its max as she vanished into the depths of the vortex and, for a lack of a better word, rampaged on the Krawl within, crushing, bashing, and blowing the planet consumers to pieces.
Seconds later, the vortex faded out as the bodies of hundreds of the sludge-like creatures were strewn across the ground in various states of mutilation, the Villakroma scratched and dented up but otherwise unharmed as she heaved heavily, as if she were going to snap into another rampage at any moment.
She stood rigid, her only movement being her breathing until, after a few minutes, the bodies turned into wisps of shadows and vanished. Only then did Chiggar relax slightly. By the time the Corona Spectrobe went insane on the Krawl, Kisara had decided it was best to high-tail it out of there and get her body.
Only now did thge substitute Shinigami cautiously approach the group again.
"That... was very scary of her to do..." Kisara said, shuddering as she refered to Chiggar.

"goddamn right it was..." Barias muttered, holstering his rifles.
Lora had walked back out with Kisara, wide-eyed, whispering to herself,
"damn. That racks up to one of Uncle's rages... erk.."
Barias leaned against a tree, then turned to Chiggar and asked,
"Is it safe to assume that there may be more on their way?"
He slowly wrapped his fingers around the blade generator at his hip, ready to flick the activation swith on at any time, if need be. Lora shifted uneasily as she glanced up at the sky, the moon reflecting in her eyes. She shuddered at the thought of more of those things. Barias's eyes narrowed for a moment, thinking,
Coulda sworn I just heard something...
