In the darkness of a dense section of forest, the outlines of several 'Old Ones', as they had been called, stood completely motionless. The winged one from before was missing, but what appeared to be a metal canister, several small, curious machines attached to it stood on the ground next to them. They said nothing to eachother for quite some time, until one of them finally muttered/buzzed,
"She is not here."
"Yet, be patient." The canister stated through a speaker-looking device.
Their antannae bristled for a few moments, then went still again.
"Can I go yet?" A familiar voice asked.
"No. As a servant of He Who Lies Sleeping, thou must prove yourself."
Mortis grumbled, his once-yellow eyes now turning purple quickly.

Being refferred to anonomously had drawn the lumbering being known as Chiggar back to the forest, comng to the edge of the beginning of the dense section that the Old Ones were, not daring to go any farther as to not cause trees to accidentally topple onto them or Mortis.
"Alright, I'm here..." Chiggar called into the darkness.

Mortis's head raised, and the three Old Ones bobbed in confirmation.
"Excellent. You're free to go, minion of He Who Lies Sleeping." The canister stated in its flat, mechanical tone.
Mortis shifted on his feet, looking uncomfortable.
"About that condition..." Mortis muttered, tugging at the cord around his neck.
The three Old Ones turned towards him, and the canister stated,
"You've not fulfilled your end of the deal, Creation of the Great Priest. Fulfill it, and you may go."
Mortis's eyes flashed in anger as he hissed,
"What did I say about calling me that?! I'm not his goddamn creation!"
The canister let out an emotionless laugh, replying,
"He gave you new life, as did we. You should be grateful."
The two spheres attached to the canister swiveled towards Chiggar as it continued to Mortis,
"Now, slay it."
The wyrmling scowled, turning to Chiggar as his pupils vanished almost completely, then returned as his yellow eyes went purple.
"Sorry, Chiggar..." He muttered.
They released the cable that bound him as he stumbled forward, jerking as his transformation ensued. The Old Ones looked on in awe as Mortis's bones cracked, rearranged, and new features sprouted until he became the dark reflection of himself, something spawned by a force outside of the universe's normal laws: A spawn of Cthulhu.
The tentacled saurian's reptillian pupils turned to Chiggar, and the beast exhaled a cloud of black mist, his main tentacles sprouting from the underside of his forearms.
"By the Black Sheep.... it is true..." the canister gasped.

Chiggar's eyes widened in surprise and horror as she retreated back a few steps quickly, her feet sending tremors into the ground as she stomped them. She wasn't aware that this transformation existed, and therefore blamed its existance on the Old Ones.
'They want him to kill me!? I can't let that happen...'
"Sorry... Mortis..." Chiggar said sadly, her voice indicating she didn't want to attack, but would if pushed into the corner. The beetle tensed as her cannon hummed silently. She'd rather wait and see if the corrupted wyrm would indeed attack her before retaliating.

Mortis's foul fangs were bared as he stomped forward, the temperature around him dropping quickly. Abruptly, his tendrils snaked around her forelegs, tightening so she couldn't move back any further. His maw opened and he fired his breath weapon, encasing the tip of Chiggar's cannon in a thick chunk of ice, then the Shoggoth-beast shifted his weight, tightening the tendrils and dragging Chiggar along the ground on her side, smashing her through several trees. His tendrils retracted as he stomped towards her, cryogenic energy gathering in his maw once more as he prepped the finishing strike...
And abruptly winked.
He swiveled around, bellowing before unleashing the beam of frosty death upon the three Old Ones standing nearby, encasing the in three times the ice that tipped Chiggar's cannon. The cylinder cried out in horror as a tendril wrapped around it, then was yanked towards the angered Star-Spawn. It was held up to Mortis's face as he managed to growl,
[glow=purple,2,300]"I. AM NOT. YOUR. OR YOUR HIS. PLAYTHING."[/glow]
With that, Mortis crushed the canister, of which issued an electrical crackle and oozed what appeared to be... gray matter. With a snort, the canister was dropped carelessly as Mortis turned back to Chiggar, his features melting away into a foul, purple ooze. Mortis's original form poked forth from the sludge, face contorted in disgust as he walked over to Chiggar. His expression softened, and as he blasted the ice off of Chiggar's cannon with his Arcane Bolts, apologized,
"Sorry about that, Chiggar... had to convince them long enough to let down their guard... they're hardier than they look."
He backed off, face growing solemn as he added in a mutter,
"And... I'm... sorry you had to see.... that..."

Chiggar sighed with relief.
"Thank goodness... you had me scared for a second... I was worried I'd have to give ya a face full of this cannon's pay load, but I seriously doubt that would have slowed you down. I'm just glad it was all a ruse."
Chiggar's expression saddened slightly.
"That was nothing... compared to what I've witnessed before..."
The beetle rocked herself back to her feet, and Mortis was bounced up a few inches from the force of Chiggar's feet hitting the ground.
"Well... its behind us now... and you're cured from whatever 'the Colour' is... Lets just leave this behind now."

"Yeah... let's." He muttered, thankful there was no explanation needed about his transformation.
He managed to keep pace with Chiggar, biting his lower lip as he pondered what the beetle had meant when she said she'd seen something worse. Sure, the wyrmling's Shoggoth form wasn't one of the worst things anyone'd seen, but the way Chiggar said it... unnerved him. He sighed, thinking back to the Old Ones. They knew what he was... that meant they had a connection to his old 'master'. The thought unnerved him, causing him to mutter under his breath,
"I have seen the dark universe yawning where the black planets roll without aim- where they roll in their horror unheeded, without knowledge or luster or name..."
He shook his head, asking Chiggar aloud,
"Chiggar... what... what do you dream of when you sleep?"

"... A black inferno of death that consumes all, that washes over my long lost bretheren. Only skeletons, dismembered remains, or husks of the victims' former selves remains. Horrid slime-like creatures whose flesh could be as of acid, or towering golems whose power can crush any form of armor like it wasn't even there, these creatures, and many others are the focus of my nightmares. And when its all said and done, there is a lush planet that is covered in darkness... and then just dissappears in its entirety as the shroud leaves. There is not a miniscule particle left... all is devoured..."
Chiggar's head hung low, almost low enough for her cannon to be digging into the ground in front of her as she walked.
"These horrid creatures are planet killers. They extinct entire races for fun. There are, likely, more horrid creatures that others have witnessed, but those things are my worst nightmare."

He solemnly nodded, muttering,
"I see.... I'm sorry to hear that...
...
well, on the bright side.... at least you get sleep..."
His eyes looked weary, and he muttered something in a low, husky tone. His pupils were small, and he shuddered just thinking about what happened when he dreamt.
"The only sleep I ever get anymore.... is if someone knocks me out..." He whispered.
He shivered, thinking of the first dream he had upon returning from Pandemonium. The maddening stillness of the void beyond this known universe, nothing but silence, blindess... the only thing that made one know they weren't alone was the slight shift in the darkness that indicated movement. Movement from something that was so terrifying, the mortal mind could simply not comprehend it. Mortis's shoulders shuddered as he gave a hoarse laugh, tears slowly trickling down his cheeks.
"They say Shive is mad... heheh... mad... he..."
He stopped dead in his tracks, head bent low as that saddening smile spread a bit, teeth showing.
"No one here knows... what true madness is... not until they've seen what I see in my dreams..." He added in a shaky tone.
((Dogolas/Cthulhu: *shrugs* S'what I do best.))

(Chiggar: *glares, but knows she can't do a thing about it*)
The beetle sighed sadly, stopping as well and turning to the blue wyrmling.
'His mind's pretty much shot, that's a given... I'm afraid to wonder what did that to him...'
Chiggar lumbered back to him again, and nudged him slightly, in an attempt to lift his spirits.

((Cthulhu: *wriggles mouth-tendrils* Oh, I like this part!))
Mortis either couldn't feel the nudge, didn't notice, or didn't care a she continued in a hoarse voice,
"The roiling darkness... motion... motion of... of things... horrendous, amorphous things... the silence... oh ye gods, the silence..."
At this point, he had shuddered so badly he needed to sit on his haunches, legs wobbling as he thought aloud,
"Can't... can't sleep... they'll see me if I stay... asleep for too long... can't... they'll see..."
He slammed his face into the ground, shaking uncontrollobly as his voice started to rise, hissing unintelligble things.
"They... they look... so HORRID... some seem like animals, some seem like... and some... some don't even have forms... but YE GODS, they're TERRIBLE THINGS!"
He threw his head back, eyes wide and bloodshot as he howled,
"WHAT damnEDABLE RESPUTE MUST I FIND FROM THESE ACCURSED VISIONS OF THE DARKNESS?! WHAT MUST I DO TO GIVE ME JUST ONE NIGHT'S PEACE?!"

Chiggar stared at the child, wanting to help, but not knowing how. The beetle managed to lift the wyrmling up onto her head as she started to lumber away again, figuring that it would be best if he was with some one close, maybe Shive or Cynder... those two would probably be the best.
The alien set her sights, lumbering to seek out either of the two. She knew the place Shive was most likely to be, so she'd look for him first.

Mortis had curled into himself, eyes wide and still shaking.
"Anything... anything to make it... stop..." He whispered aloud.
The tormented child dare not close his eyes, knowing he may well fall asleep doing so.
((Err... now what? End thread?))
