Cynder sighed, but also reddened slightly as Mortis bumped against her, and also made to put a little distance between the two. The black wyrmling let her own thoughts drift from one thing to another... and yet she couldn't help but think of one thing.
'Is Solranous... really dead?
...
Or is this just a fake out to do something else with his time? He seems to have done some pretty surprising things before... so I can't exactly put it past him... But would he at least give us all a sign that he's alright? Assuming... he is faking this... But why would he do such a thing?'
Cynder physically groaned and clutched her head with a paw.
'Ugh... Too much thinking...'

Mortis took notice of her groan, and asked,
"You okay?"
Suddenly, several Cromians had broken through the trees, though they didn't seem to be running towards the wyrmlings, but... from something.
"NEBULA PUUULSE!!!" A voice roared.
A thick blast of orchid-colored energy ripped out from the trees, impacting the runaways before slagging them completely, causing the air around them to become hazy with heat. Varion stepped out of the treeline, glancing around. He nodded at the two wyrmlings, raising a hand in acknowledgement before turning back to the melting ooze that was once several Cromians.
"This is getting easier..." He muttered.
With that, the bot spread his wings and launched into the air, leaving Mortis open-mouthed as he stared at the ooze on the ground.
"He... he just vaporized those things in one go..." He muttered.
He glanced in Cynder's direction again, thankful for Varion's silence-breaking.

"Oh... Kay then... That was weird..." Cynder commented, before turning her attention to Mortis.
"I'm just thinking a lot..." she replied, "Trying... to think if there's away Solranous may be faking his death to accomplish some greater goal. He's done some strange things before... so I wouldn't put it past him to do that."
"Hate to burst your bubble, kid... but I can't sense his reiatsu anywhere... Face it. He's. Dead..."
"Have you thought that he might be surpressing it?"
"Even supressed, his reiatsu would still be within my sensing range." the Hollow replied, annoyed.
"Then I was only imagining that time where he came within a few feet of us and managed to evade your senses?" Cynder countered.
"Um... Ah... Well... You see... Er..." the Hollow stuttered, unable to come up with a decent excuse as to that incident.
"See? There's still a chance that he's faking his death."
"I guess we'll see then, eh Cynder?"
"We'll see... We'll see..."

Mortis blinked, not expecting that as an answer.
"Well... if he is faking it... maybe he's doing so to get the element of surprise over his 'killer'?" He replied, shrugging.
He glanced to the side, muttering in a low tone,
"Artecaex might know... but that's doubtful..."
He bit his lip, thinking,
That's... the only logical explanation to it... WAIT! Isn't he a Shinigami?! If he's a Shinigami.... then... even if he DID die... he could just come back...
His eyes widened, and he fell silent.

Cynder mused it over a little, "Probably... but he'd likely be trying to gather more strength in secret, because if he stayed at the same level of power, then as soon as his element of surprise is gone, the battle would just go down hill for him again... and yet... I can't think of how he could get stronger. It looked like he had hit his peak a long time ago... Unless he pulled a Shive and became a Vizard some how..."
"Unlikely..."
"Shut up."
"I'd be surprised if Artecaex knew he was supposedly dead in the first..." Cynder admitted, "But we should still try and see if he knows something..."

Mortis shook his head, lost in thought and barely catching what Cynder said.
"Naw... if he did know, he probably wouldn't tell us anyway..." He muttered.
He looked up to the sky, then thought aloud,
"But would Solranous really put his love and daughter through such mental anguish? Doesn't seem like him... ... then again, I don't know him very well anyway..."

"He's one to make sacrifices even if he regrets them later on. If he's faking it, he knew ahead of time. If he does come back from faking death, then he's going to do anythiing they want him to do for any amount of forgiveness for putting them through it... I think..." Cynder responded, unsure at the end. A while ago, she had stayed around Solranous' place before that fateful day. While she was there, she had spoken with Kisara, to see if she could shed any light if Solranous were to take any actions out of the ordinary, such as his motives...
The answer she had gotten stunned her. and she thought back to it now.
"Hey... Kisara?" Cynder asked the woman as she relaxed after she and Solranous worked keeping their house clean.
"Yeah, Cynder?"
"Well... I'm just wondering... If something drastic were to change in how Solranous acted... do you have an idea on what his motive might be?" The wyrmling was curious. To her, the emerald dragon had done many a confusing active with seemingly no particular reason except that he could.
Kisara frowned at the question. "Um... Honestly... I have no idea what goes through his head when he does something at times, only that once he's set on it, trying to change his mind is like trying to stop a speeding train with your bare hands... Paws, in your case, Cynder."
"Wow... he's that determined..."
Kisara nodded, "Why do you ask?"
Cynder shrugged, "No reason except to satisfy a now nagging curiousity."
Kisara went with it, reclining back to take a short cat nap.
"He's such an enigma that not even those closest to him know why he does something... It makes me wonder just how much I really know about Solranous..." Cynder mused.

Mortis nodded, understanding a bit now. This brought up another subject he now noticed.
Has she always been able to change my opinion so easily?
He furrowed his 'eyebrows', thinking back to past conversations. His eyes slowly widened with each one, and he mumbled silently,
"Surely there's been one..."
He went through them again, and his eyes narrowed. He glanced at her for a moment, then asked,
"I know I may be stepping into personal territory, but... how often did Spyro listen to you?"
This would answer several questions, one of which he may have feared the answer to.
Please say he did, please say he did... He thought.

Cynder sighed, and seemed to look up, far beyond the horizon at that question.
"Quite a bit... Even though less then a quarter of those incidents were of me coming to him... There weren't very many times, because it was such a short time that we were in the same place... at least... After I was free from the Dark Master... Spyro... was more understanding then I thought was physically possible at the time. No matter what, he accepted me... for the real me underneath the false shell created by that cruel beast..."
The black wyrmling then remembered something else.
"Solranous... once said that something would have bloomed between Spyro and myself... had I not been taken to this dimension...

Mortis nodded as his eyes fell, and he muttered,
"That would've been most likely... knowing what I've heard from dad..."
He paused, eyes narrowing as he recalled something Shive told him. Armageddon was the one who wanted Cynder, but... Dogolas was the one that brought her to him.
He ruined both our fates... the b*stard...
His teeth exposed slightly as he thought,
He did. He ruined my father's life by turning him into that... that THING, he ruined mine by doing the same, and he ruined Cynder's by ripping her from the only people that cared about her...
A dark sheen washed across his scales for a moment as he unconsciously turned away from Cynder, baring more of his teeth.
THAT TENTACLED FREAK HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE FOR EVERYONE! TO THINK NONE OF THIS NEVER WOULD'VE HAPPENED IF THOSE damn FOOLHARDY HUMANS HAD JUST LEFT THAT VAULT ALONE!
He clamped his mouth back shut, obvious he was restraining himself. His tail lashed under the water, then stiffened. He locked his jaws in place, then sighed, letting his chin slap against the water once more as his head fell. He sighed as his anger slowly died away, and he muttered,
"Nothing I can do about it now..."

"There's nothing nobody can do about it now... But this reminds me of yet another thing Solranous tends to speak of. 'Fate can be the kindest being in the universe to you at one moment, then turn a blind eye to your suffering in the next. And yet, everything happens as it should. Doors in fate are constantly being closed, and in response, others open... a neverending network of passages that are predetermined at some points, and reliant on the decision of those involved. But again, predetermined or not, everything happens as it should.'" Cynder replied, quoting one of Solranous' speeches that she heard.
"I had a chance to go back to Spyro... go back to my home dimension... But... As much as I wanted to... I couldn't willingly picture myself there, among them... It was difficult for me to even force myself into the picture... I didn't belong there, even though I was accepted there... Sometimes I wonder my own reasonings. but I'd always came to the same ending, I needed to go somewhere else..."

Mortis rolled this over and over in his head, picking it apart and beginning to get at what she was saying.
"I... see..."
He looked skyward, expression turning neutral.
Then... is that why... Bahamut sent me back?
...
It has to be... as nice as the guy is, it's against the rules to just keep sending people back exactly as they were... but then... why? What possible fate could I have that'd be so important to call me back from death and into life? What... am I meant for?
He sighed, shaking his head while muttering something. He glanced at Cynder, then said with a sad smile,
"Well... if it's any consellation, I'm glad you're here..."

Cynder smiled at that.
"At least some good has come from my decision to stay..." the black wyrmling muttered. There were many things that could happen... She could only hope it was the good things that occured more then the bad.
(OOC: Bleh... running out of ideas.)

Mortis nodded, thinking,
More than you know...
He paused, blinking.
Wait, what do I mean by that?
His ears ears twitched as a distant sound came to his ears, smirking after realizing what it was.
"Heh... Shive fell asleep..." He stated.
He glanced off to the side, tail swaying before he muttered,
"Umm... I know this may sound odd, Cynder, but..."
He was steadily reddening, staring downwards as he tried to piece together his statement.
"Um... a-are you doing anything tommorow?" He asked, trying to restrain a stutter.

She couldn't help but arch an eyebrow, as she realized instantly what Mortis was trying to do...
Sometimes experiencing life in her adult self had a benefit or two...
She decided to play ignorant to it though. "Um... no... why do you ask?"
