Thanatos landed in the outskirts of town and looked around. Aphostos wasn't there, but technically he wasn't anywhere until he needed to be.
"Aphostos, get out here, I need to talk to you!" Thanatos yelled out into the flat emptiness.
"No need to shout Thanatos. What is it?" Came a cold reply.
Turning to see the Titan, Thanatos inwardly shuddered. The was just something off about him.
"Draethik is back, somehow, and I need to kill him. Shive is trying, but I honestly don't think he can stop him. Him or his friends."
"And you think I can?"
"No. But I think Teracyn can."
"I see. So let me see if I understand this; you want me, for no particular reason, to permanently fuse with you into a more powerful being to fight something that was supposedly already killed. Remind me, why would I do this again?"
"Because he's a threat, and your task is to eliminate such threats. And he's even stronger now."
To Thanatos' surprise, Aphostos smiled at this.
"I know, mortal. I know more than you do. Draethik is much stronger now than he was. Teracyn, as he was in the first battle, may not be able to defeat him now. He might be able to, but I doubt it. But with a little help, he could."
"What sort of help...?" Thanatos withdrew a little, unpleasantly surprised by this turn of events, and Aphostos' tone.
"The first thing would be to seek out my Lord Typhon for...a gift."
"A...gift. From Typhon...?"
"Yes." Aphostos replied solemnly. "Draethik can manipulate matter with great skill, and even as Teracyn we would fall prey to this. But Typhon can ensure that this is not the case."
"Umm...how? Not that I doubt, or anything, but how do you overcome being made of matter?"
Aphostos smiled, "By no longer being composed of it. Typhon's servant Coronis is not made of matter, we could be made of the same material, the same unmatter."
"Ok, anything else?"
"Yes, an ally."
"And who might that be?"
"An old friend." A third voice came from behind them.
Thanatos turned to look what Aphostos could already see: WarAngel, decked in full armor and holding the Lance of Longinus.
"She has agreed to help fight Draethik."
"Oh, well, that's...nice." Thanatos managed, having vivid flashbacks of this same angel running that same lance through his chest sometime earlier. "So, when do we see Typhon?"
"That's up to him, not us. It could be centuries."
"Oh..."
