Thantatos ripped through the trees, literally, on his way 'home'. When he reached it, he didn't was any time. First things first, he'd have to repair the damage that cowardly bastard inflicted. But then, the real work would begin.
After some hours of work, he was ready to move past repair and onto upgrading. His suit opened up into its "expanded" mode, made specifically so that he could upgrade, or to allow for a dramatic increase in power. His organic under-armor began to react to the weapons, shield systems, and power sources near it. It knew what was coming.
Thanatos was about to become the bringer of death, and the whole world was going to know it.

On the other side of the lake, four figures landed, one of them being winged. Three of the four shrank into human shapes, and one of them laughed.
"What's the matter Reizus? Can't go human anymore?" Ocrimus asked mockingly.
Reizus merely growled and aimed a forearm at Ocrimus, and X put his hand on Reizus's arm, shaking his head. The Zoanoid complied and lowered his arm. As Gaigan and Ocrimus began speaking with one another, X spotted the Draeger cyborg across the lake, and his eyes widened.
"Could that be related to...?" He muttered.
Before anyone could blink, he stood about 10 feet away from Thanatos, asking,
"Excuse me, but I've seen someone who kinda looks like you lately. Do you know her? She was with a red-headed woman."

Thanatos froze. He didn't look over. Then he made a quick movement and there was a clicking sound as the last of the new equipment was accepted into his system.
"You. LIE." Was the last X heard before Thanatos hit him. He went skipping across the lake like a stone, and smashed hard into Ocrimus.
Before they realized that Thanatos was hostile, he was above them. He pointed his right arm at them and fired dozens of 18 inch nails at hypersonic speeds. There was blood. And it would only be the beginning.
"Behold, the end is near. The final horseman has come: I am the bringer of destruction."

X stood back up, and before Thanatos knew it, he had spiraled into the air and through several trees. The Zoanoid gave him a glare that could freeze even the hottest blood as he hissed,
"I. DO. NOT. LIE."
Ocrimus, Gaigan, and Reizus now stood next to him, Ocrimus clenching his fists.
"Go ahead." X muttered before stepping backwards.
Gaigan reverted back into his Zoanoid form, his buzzsaw whirring to life. Reizus's forearm's popped open to reveal dual blasters intergrated into his flesh, and Ocrimus changed ino his true form, a broad reptilian-scorpion mix. They all glared down on him as X muttered,
"Wait, hold on."
He stepped forward and stared at Thanatos coldly before replying,
"Why would I lie to you if I don't even know you? If you don't believe me, then go to the park in the city. That's where she and her friend last ran off to."
His fist suddenly became black and clawed as he stated,
"And if you attack me like that again, I will not hesitate rip you apart."
He stepped backwards, then snapped his fingers, making the others back off, even though Ocrimus had paused.

Thanatos paused. If she was alive...was it possible...? But why should these four go free? He knew the phrase 'don't kill the messenger', but he didn't see how that applied here. Decisions, decisions.
In the end the chance that his love was alive was too tempting. Besides, if they did lie, all would buy them is a bit of time.
"Hope that you speak the truth, pretender. For if you don't, I will find you no matter where you go."
Then he was gone.

X's eyes narrowed as he watched Thanatos's empty spot. The other two reverted into their human forms as Ocrimus ran up, yelling,
"X, WHAT THE fuck? Why'd you let him leave after he bum-rushed us?"
X merely glared at Ocrimus, making him back off a bit.
"Because he attacked us in a blind, confused rage. It's damn obvious the woman is special to him."
Ocrimus scoffed, muttering,
"You and your humanity..."
X merely smirked in reply, then stated,
"Let's get outta here. We have what we came for."
They began to walk off, except for Reizus, who paused, wide-eyed. He started screeching and clutching at his head, then flew off towards the city in a confused frenzy.
"Reizus! damnit. C'mon, let's get him." X muttered to the others.
The three ran off in pursuit of the berserk Zoanoid.
