Shive landed on the long beach circling the lake, which was covered in a sheath of morning mist. It was approx. 6:00.
"That voice... told me to come here... and..." He paused, then continued,
"And it sounded just like..."
Me? A voice asked.
Shive glanced around, his eyes seemingly clouded over. He blinked again, for he thought he saw a shape in the mist. He rubbed his eyes and looked up. The shape was getting closer!
"Who are you?" He asked, hand on Raganrok.
"Are you saying you forgotten already?" It replied.
It was clear now that the voice was feminine. Shive's mouth opened slightly as a shape emerged from the fog. It was shaped a lot like he was, but it was lithe. Very lithe. It's muzzle was rounded, unlike his, which was a bit rectangular. It had a short, mohawk-like frill on its head, two horns on the back of its skull, and a mane of metallic-blue, blade-like hair (like Shive's). It's eyes were a sparkling, soft turqouise. It wore a dark-blue tunic shirt, and baggy gray pants. A black choker, studded with a single sapphire cricled her neck.
"It... can't..." Shive muttered, eyes wide.
"It is. Sort of..." The female replied.
She stepped closer, and Shive's eyes widened even more. She was transparent! Shive suddenly sat down from the shock of the surprise.
"Sevra... what... " He stuttered.
"Ah. You mean the whole, 'I can see through you' thing. Well, as you know, I died. I'm still dead." Sevra replied, hands on her hips.
"Um... okay..." Shive replied.
"I asked Chronepsis a favor. I wanted to talk to you on last time." She stated, kneeling down by him.
"You... wanted to talk to me?" He asked, obviously knowing the answer.
"I need to tell you something... Shive..." She stated, staring out at the lake.
"What is it?"
"Shive... you need... to move on. I'm dead. Deal with it. This is the last time you'll see me." She replied.
Shive seemed hurt and shocked at the same time.
"I know, it hurt when I died. You loved me, I loved you. I still do. But I'm dead, and you need to move on in your damn life."
"What do you..."
"Oh please, Shive. Ever since that day, whenever someone brings up the subject of 'love', you're about as emotive as a rock. You have a lifespan of 800 years, Shive. People you know will die when you're alive. A lot of them. But, you need to let others in. And I don't mean just friends." She harshly retiterated.
"I've seen what happens when you look at her. That Myrr girl. You like her, and you know it." She continued.
Shive's face got red awfully fast as he responded,
"I don't know what you're-"
"Shive. I know it's hard. But that was 30-f***ing years ago. Find someone else. You can't mope over the same damn person your whole life." She cut him off.
"I saw what happened to you when you heard that song. You almost broke down completely, but you held it in. That's not good for you, Shive. I know you care about me, but for the love of your god, let me go!"
Shive turned away, biting his lip.
"Don't make me sing it." She threatened.
Shive merely stared at the sand before him.
"Fine..." She stated, standing up.
She took in a few deep breaths, then, in the most beautiful voice Shive had ever heard, began singing.
"You wait, wanting this world
To let you in
And you stand there
A frozen light
In dark and empty streets
You smile hiding behind
A God-given face
But I know you're so much more
Everything they ignore
Is all that I need to see
You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in
I wish
Wishing for you to find your way
And I'll hold on for all you need
That's all we need to say
I'll take my chances while
You take your time with
This game you play
But I can't control your soul
You need to let me know
You leaving or you gonna stay
You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in
There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to do without
The only way to feel again
Is let love in
There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to live without
The only way to see again
Is let love in
You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in..." She finished, then glanced at Shive.
The dragonkin had done something he rarely did. The 865-pound, muscle-bound, homicidal, man-eating behemoth broke down and cried. Tears trickled down his cheeks as he bit his lip, turning towards Sevra.
"Told you so." She stated, smirking.
"You need to let go. Find new relations, and not brood over old. It may seem hard at first, but you'll get used to it." She stated, a sad smile on her face.
"I need to go. It was nice seeing you again, Shive." She whispered.
She bent down and kissed Shive on the forehead before walking away into the mist, never to be seen again.
"G-Goodbye..." Shive gasped.
He folded his arms across his knees and rested his chin on his forearms, staring at the lake.
"That voice... told me to come here... and..." He paused, then continued,
