"Just pray its the last- What the hell? What happened to you that made you need bandages? And better yet, who placed them on you and why aren't you resting if you're hurt?"
Cynder felt like smacking the blue wyrmling upside the head for being an idiot, but decided not to.

Mortis blinked, then stared off to the side.
"Uh... I was attacked by Khimera when he went after Myrr..." He muttered.
His voice lowered somewhat for reasons unknown, and he continued,
"Solranous put them on me, I assume. As for why I'm no resting... well..."
His claws scratched across the top of the ground, and he felt the urge to bolt off into the trees. Yet he was grounded to that spot.
"Well... I don't know. I got nervous after hearing a conversation Solranous had with someone, and I... just left."

This time, she couldn't resist the urge.
SLAP!
"Did your brain up and leave in another direction while you were thinking that!? You shouldn't be moving! Those bandages looked like they used to be tight, like it was trying to set a bone, do you want it to fracture again, leaving you helpless!? I don't care what you try to do, I'm staying with you until you wisen up and rest."
She stamped her foot, making it clear there was no room for debate.

Mortis was so shocked he didn't know what else to do... he just... flopped down onto the ground, one eye somewhat larger than the other.
How'd she do that?! He asked himself in confusion.
He blinked, then sighed, eyes drifting onto the ground. Something was clawing at the back of his mind, and he wanted to say it.... but he just couldn't. Ever since his father told him to open up to these people, that one thing tore at his conscience... hell, even Shive told him he'd have to talk about it sooner or later...
He opened his mouth to say something, then clamped it back shut.

Cynder laid down, watching him with the dedication of a hawk focusing on its prey. She let her head slump to one side as she looked at him.
"What's wrong? Your nervous or something about whats going on, besides the obvious. Can you tell me whats got you down? Or am I being to nosy?"

Mortis let out an almost pained sigh, then muttered,
"I think you know better than most as to why some people don't like others knowing too much about themselves..." He muttered.
He glanced up at the sky, and could almost feel someone staring back.
"But as Shive told me... you eventually informed him..." He added.
damnit Shive... why did you ask me to do this? He thought to himself.
"It seemed to help you fit in around here... and Shive thinks the same way about me..." He stated.
He gave Cynder an uncomfortable look as he muttered,
"So... I guess this is where I should start... do... you know of a legend about a dragon named Bagan?"

"Bagan?" Cynder asked. "Um, no, I come from a different dimension then you, so I doubt I've heard any of the legends of your home. You are right, I know what its like to have painful secrets from your past, but if you don't trust anybody enough to tell them, it'll keep eating away at your conscious until you go mad from it." the black wyrmling continued.
'Oh, how delightful that sense of dread is.'
'Stow it, *****'
Hollow Cynder's 'eyes' widened from that, surprised to hear such a word from the child. So surprised that she obeyed, staying quiet.

Mortis sighed, scratching at the ground again.
"Then I suppose I should inform you..." He sighed.
His eyes closed slowly as he began,
"Where I come from, there's a 'legend' about a dragon who was possessed by the deity of corruption and madness, Dogolas. The dragon laid waste to thousands of armies, and countless nations fell to their knees at the power of the beast. Finally, a group of adventurers had managed to weaken Dogolas's control over the monster, but were forced to slay him anyway."
He bit his lip, and trembled slightly.
"People still pass it off as if it never happened.... they don't want to remember what occured over that period of time, the monstrous things they saw... but it did happen. I know it happened because I was in the middle of it. For I am Bagan's son."
He drew in a long breath, then went on.
"My father had volunteered to help lead a group of explorers up to a temple of Dogolas that had been recently discovered by humans. He wanred them about what might happen, but they ignored him. So, against his better judgement, he led them up to the profane place. Within the hour, the explorers had examined almost every inch of that despicable place..."
He made an almost inaudible whimper.
"Then, they found the altar room. There, they went about their business again, until one of the humans found a strange artifact, a large crystal. They asked my father to identify it for them, and as he was doing such, the alien deity had found a link back to the Material Plane... my father. The possession happened rapidly, causing a horrible mutation to occur, altering him into something horrible."
"The explorers were immedeatly killed as Dogolas took sway over the wyrm, and as the mutation continued, he was commanded to destroy everything in sight... starting with his home. His home..."
Mortis choked back his tears, gritting his teeth.
"And everyone in it. We had a good idea about what had happened, but we didn't know for sure. He slaughtered my mother first, then my sister, and he managed to maim me badly, but I had escpaed out of fear. Dogolas told him to ignore me and continue about his rampage, spreading the force of the Dark Echelon across the decimated land. A week later, my possessed father and I crossed paths again, and Dogolas's control faltered, which angered the abberation."
At this point, Mortis was clutching the sides of his head with his foreclaws.
"So... he commanded him to kill me. He did. With his last piece of family gone, Dogolas was sure his control would never falter again. A week passed since I had died, and my father was still wiping out entire legions of dwarves, ogres, orcs, humans, elves, even other dragons. Finally, a friend of Shive's, a paladin by the name of Kethon, heard of the blight of my father after a survivor of his latest attack informed him. Shive himself then informed Kethon of who Bagan was, and they set out on in the hopes of breaking my father's restraints."
The ground was stained with Mortis's tears as he managed to gasp out the last section.
"So, they managed to find him, and they began the attack as a seperate group of fighters began to attack Dogolas's grip on Bagan. Both groups were succeeding, but maintaining heavy damage as they did so. The first group finally lost the fight, but those attacking the mental hold managed to break it long enough for Bagan to snap out of it and fight back as well, with some help from the one called Vazaad. After Dogolas was forced back, bagan recalled what he had done, and couldn't stand to stay alive. He wanted to be with his family again, so Kethon and Vazaad took pity on my father, and slayed him."
Mortis trembled, resting his chin on his claws.
"So... that's it. That's the reason fellow dragons talked about my father behind our backs, that's why it's recorded as a legend, and that has something to do with why Draethik wants me. That's why I can't stand to talk to people face-to-face, for fear of if they learn much about me, they'll hate and resent me." He stated.

Cynder couldn't help but shed a tear, it was just as bad as her past. Cynder walked over to Mortis and layed down next to him, placing a wing around his shoulder. She offered no words, but she knew he could tell that hate did not fill her heart from his story. After a few minutes of somewhat awkward silence, Cynder spoke.
"We are more alike then we thought..."

Mortis nodded.
"He told me your story... your background, I should say. I guess that's why you're the person who I chose to tell... because I knew you'd understand it."
He shuddered in relief, and that rare smile of his, if still small, slid across his face. His yellow eyes slid over and glanced at Cynder before his eyes closed.
"Cynder... thank you. For listening. You're right, it did help. It helped a lot." He stated.
His tail slid across the ground, back and forth, before it unconsciously began to wrap around Cynder's. After a few seconds, Mortis realized what his appendage was doing, and his eyes snapped open. His face reddened rapidly, and he pulled it away, muttering an embaressed apology.

Cynder had froze, a blush of her own having mad itself known. Yet... She didn't entirely dislike it...
"Don't panic, I'm sure... sure it was just a mistake... Or something like that..." The wyrmling offered to reassure Mortis, though she wasn't entirely convinced herself. The black wyrmling shuddered unnoticably.
"Its good to know your feeling better about it. Maybe this will help you live the life taken from you by Dogolas better." she murured, sighing. Her eyes drooped, she was getting tired from the days events.

Mortis nodded.
"I hope it will..." He muttered.
He yawned, then checked the sky. The moon was roughly in the center of the sky. The cold had no effect on him whatsoever, but he wasn't sure about Cynder. He could tell she was getting tired as well, and he knew his eyelids were forcing themselves to stay open. He mentally shrugged, then draped a wing over Cynder, as a sort of blanket, as Mortis succumbed to sleep.
Well... this was an interesting day. He thought before passing out.

It wasn't long after that Cynder, too, fell into that blissful paradise that was the dream world
[End Thread I believe would be best to put now.]
