Mortis skidded out onto the beach, muttering,
"Crap-crap-crap-I'm-late-I'm-late-I'm-late!!!"
His head lashed from side to side, trying to find Cynder, nervous that she may have left. The sun was already halfway set, and still he found no sight of the onyx dragoness. He sighed, head bowing as he muttered,
"Ahh... I knew it. She left..."
He flopped down on the edge of the water, staring sullenly out into the lake. He thought he saw something odd on the surface of the water, but after squinting, he passed it off as the reflection of the sun on the water.
It was a stupid idea to do this anyway... He thought.

"Now now, I maybe impatient, but not that much." Cynder replied, having some how manged to creep up on the cobalt wyrmling without his knowing. Upon Mortis' liikely shock at being spoken to when not expecting anybody, Cynder chuckled a bit.
"Little jumpy right now, aren't you?"

Mortis's head poked out of the water he had abruplty jumped into after being snuck up on.
"A bit... but then again, I'm always jumpy..." He muttered, glancing off to the side.
He slinked out of the water, the water on his scales crystallizing before he flared his scales out, snapping it all off in a small 'puff' of snow. He gave a strained grin, then asked,
"Soo... shall we go then?"
Oh great... starting to lose it again...

Cynder gave a hint of that evil grin of hers again to Mortis.
'Lord... he's like an open book, straining the grin to look like he's got himself calm, when I can tell he's not...'
"Sure, lead the way." the ebony wyrmling replied.

He nodded, setting the pace at a casual stroll as he started walking down the beachline, glancing at the water as he went.
I could've sworn... ah well.
He glanced back at Cynder, smiling a bit through his apparent nervousness. Attempting to shrug it off, he asked,
"This may sound odd, Cynder, but I want to know a bit more about where you come from... um... what was it like?"

Cynder sighed sadly.
"I can't really give you a good detail of how it was before the Dark Master started making attempts at breaking the seals placed on him... By the time I was born, I was already in the clutches of an ape-like race that served under him. Soon after that, when he had forced my loyalty to him, I became something akin to a black scourge... In my adult form, I was stronger then most dragons, even the four Guardians fell, one by one, until only the Fire Guardian, Ignitus remained. That, however, was when Spyro came into the picture. Defeating armies of those apes whereever he went, he freed the remaining three guardians, but not until I had gotten what I came for... The energy needed to break the seal. I only needed Ignitus' power to allow the Dark Master to return...
Volteer of Lightning, Cyril of Ice, Terrador of Earth, and Ignitus of Fire, they were the four guardians. And ironically, Spyro rescued them all in that order, after I had clashed against Terrador, who was badly weakened at that time. It was just a poly for Ignitus to come in and give the others time to escape... only for him to be captured. I very nearly succeeded in setting the Dark Master free... but thankfully, at the last second, Spyro defeated my controlled adult self, breaking the spell he held over me.
As far as I heard from the Guardians, the world was a peaceful place to live in before the scourge of the Dark Master returned. I only regret that there was so little that I could hear... That most of what I know of the place is the time when I was evil... Even that is vague... I carried so little from that place..."
'Ah jeez, don't tell me she's about to break down...' Hollow Cynder moaned as Cynder became down cast.
"It could have been so good to live there... and yet... most of what I carry from it is fear and pain... If it wasn't for the combined effort of most of the residents of Nightshade, a small amount of which are gone, I probably would have become a crying wreck right here, right now." Cynder finished. She looked at Mortis.
"Solranous and Shive, however, played the biggest roles in helping me out, though."
(OOC: That first bit before Hollow Cynder's thought is a skimming of the summary of Spyro: A New Beginning, and also notes some major characters that haven't been introduced before. I.E. The Guardians.)

((Aha! Now I know the backstory thanks to that post and multiple mv's I have watched! Haha!))
Mortis scowled during the beginning of Cynder's response, about the apes and the Dark Master.
Who could be so cruel as to do that to a wyrmling?! He thought, ingonring the fact he could ist off several people on the spot.
He let out a small smile at the end, and he replied,
"Well... that's what they do... I've known Shive since I was a hatchling, and he's always been like that. Never could stand to see people depressed..."
He closed his eyes and 'hmphed', the smirk spreading a bit.
"I guess he does it to keep himself from being like that..." He added in a mutter.
He snapped back to reality, then continued,
"Well, at least you know there's caring people you can rely on, right?"
He ruffled his back-sail, thinking back to his home plane. His shoulders slumped when he got in-depth on it...
"Some of the most beautiful environments... some of the most majestic creatures... yet... someone's always warring with someone else to ruin it..." He muttered.
He looked back up, staring straight ahead as he fell deathly silent.

"Yeah... It feels nice to know some one's got you covered..." Cynder replied. She then looked down.
"And unfortuneately... you're also right that war is destroying such beautiful things... Why can't they realize what horror they are creating when the launch their weapons upon each other?"
The black wyrmling sighed. Cynder walked closer to the cobalt wyrmling, in an attempt to bring some form of comfort... for both of them...

Maybe that's what Dad was talking about... He thought.
"The humanoid races are always in a hurry, son. They're always trying to accomplish some goal for themselves, some with good intent, most with bad intent. Some will do anything to reach this goal, for fear of not accomplishing it before they die. They just can't enjoy life without knowing they've done something others will recognize them, and remember them for... there are a few that aren't like that, but sadly, they're few and far between..." He recalled his father saying.
Scowling, he shook his head.
Why can't they just value what they have? I mean, we dragons aren't any better, but even we know when to stop... hmm. Like that 'Redcrow' person Shive was talking about... he went so far as to turn to the darkness to achieve his goals... He thought.
He wanted to shout in anger, but he felt something calm his mind. He blinked, then glanced to the side to see Cynder walking a bit closer, and he mentally smiled. He edged a bit closer to her as well, feeling his mind become more at ease. He seemed to recall Shive talking about this kind of thing when mentioning Myrr...
Is this what that is? ...hmm...

Cynder mentally smiled, her movement had worked for both of them, she too was feeling more at ease with herself...
But the Hollow...
"BLEH! I'm gonna go sleep for a bit, wake me up when the mood is less cheerful." Hollow Cynder growled.
"Is it really that bad?" Cynder asked, smirking knowingly.
"In case you haven't forgotten, I'm a Hollow. Hollows don't like cheery happy-go-lucky situations, period. GOOD NIGHT!"
Cynder physically winced as the equivalent of a door being slammed in her mind occured.
"Ow... She didn't have to be so rude about it..."

Mortis smirked, knowing what she was talking about. He had noticed that, despite the two were unwillingly bound to eachother spiritually, they were getting to like eachother better... even if they didn't want to admit it. He sighed, wishing such a thing was possible with his dark side... but he knew that wasn't possible. That abberation was him, his mind simply went into a state of blind rage and disarray. His head dropped a bit as he thought about it, knowing that as long as Dogolas- no, he went by his old name now- Cthulhu, was alive, he'd still have that beast as a part of his mentality.
He shook the negativity from his shoulders, forcing himself back to the situation at hand... and that alone lifted his spirits immensely. That thought added to his spirit, and he leaned his head back, staring at the twilit sky. The constellation Draco was first to his eyes, and he smirked in ironic realization.
"Cynder... I'm... I'm glad you came. I really am." He stated, still staring at the sky with an odd warmth about him.

"Aww... that's cute." A feminine voice stated.
Across the lake, two figures could barely be seen against the rapidly incoming night, standing on the edge of the forest. One, judging by the shape, was obviously O'Malley, but he seemed... different, in some way. The other resembled a cross between a common mech and an old suit of armor, with flared shoulders composed of multiple overlapping plates. A pair of small, blades-like wings was attached to her back, as well as a massive rifle.
"Yeah, whatever." The droid muttered.
"Aw, come on Mal, you have to admit that's-"
"Wait-wait-wait-wait... did... did you just call me 'Mal'? You're not serious, are you?" O'Malley interjected, glaring at the other bot.

"I'm glad I wasn't too impatient when you didn't arrive on time." Cynder replied, grinning at Mortis. However, she then looked around.
"Ever get the feeling your being watched by someone, but don't know who? 'Cause I'm starting to feel that way right now..." Cynder asked.
(OOC: 'Mal'? Why do I think there is more meaning behind that then just being a cute pet name?)

((Oh no, it's just a pet name. O'Malley: *sharpening a magnet*))
Mortis glanced around, replying,
"Yeah... I am too..."
* * * * * *
The knight-looking leaned back, then grabbed O'Malley by the shoulder.
"C'mon, we don't wanna ruin their date!" She hissed.
"I could care less, I'm busy-"
The droid was cut off when the fem-bot hauled him into the woods by his arm, and he barked,
"B-but I'm not done yet! I need more samples! LEMME GO!"
They were soon out of sight, and out of hearing range.
* * * * * *
Mortis relaxed a bit, muttering,
"Well... the feeling's gone now... at least, for me anyway..."
((Never thought you'd see O'Malley whine, huh? XP))

(OOC: *eye-twitch* O'Malley... whined? *looks outside to see if pigs are flying or if the sky is falling or another other signs of an apocalypse...*)
Cynder sighed, "It's not gone for me, but it is diminished... I think its just instinct thats making me so wary of my surroundings... another part of my past... one thats more vauge then the other parts..."
Regardless, she still smiled again as she looked up into the sky.
"It seems so familiar to the sky in my dimension... and yet... it's still different..." Cynder muttered.
(OOC: Oh, and what was O'Malley gathering samples of, anyways?)

((O'Malley: You'll only see that happen once, and that was it. Also: I was NOT collecting micro-oxygen. I've no idea what you're talking about.))
Mortis nodded, staring upwards as well.
"Same here..."
Although the most noticeable difference would be the lack of two more moons... He thought.
He glanced back down at the lake, wondering how Levi was doing at the moment. He shrugged, knowing well she could fend for herself. He glanced back at Cynder, and his eyes widened. To him, at that moment, the moonlight reflected off of her in an odd way, making her... one of the most beautiful things he'd ever seen. He turned back away, reddening again before he turned back to the sky.
"Even in our darkest hour, a small mote of light can still be found..." He muttered.
